I suppose it will depend on what u wanna spend!! I ran a dynomite tazer 4000kv system then the esc crapped out. So I threw in a CC sidewinder 4600kv system. I was only going to replace the esc but it was not much cheaper than the esc motor combo. Both are great systems but I think there are a lot of good systems out there and prob for a lot cheaper.

I literally just got done putting brushless system in mine and I was very surprised how simple dynamite made it. http://www.horizonhobby.com/SearchD...0051&langId=-1&Type=SimpleSearch&storeId=1015 The tazer twin 3000kv brushless/ ESC combo. I paid 89.00. But as he said before need a new reciever. I would go with the spectrum DX2E Transmitter and receiver combo. Probably the best for your money. I would like to recommend upgrading to a metal pinion gear set and definitely a metal spur gear. If not your going to wear the teeth out quick unless have gotten decent at setting your slipper clutch.

Insanehawaiin, How has the Tazer Twin held up? How much and how hard do you drive it? How has the Amp held up with brushless?

Thx

I just installed a Gool RC Brushless system in my AMP today, I love it. Great combo.

Oh, and it's only $39.99 shipped!!

I posted a mini review on this same AMP forum

I also have a Castle 4600K combo brushless motor running a 7200mAh 60C 3S Gen Ace battery. Upgraded to all steel gears and get 45 minutes plus run time. AMP has been clocked at 67mph. LOVE this truck, so easy to upgrade. You will have to buy a new radio.

Not bashing on you, by there are a LOT better radios out there for the money, or equivalent radios for half the money. The DX2E is nothing special - 2 channels and the only adjustment are dials for channel center and steering DR. For the same $60 that a DX2e would cost, you could get a GT3C or a RG4Gs. Both have tons more features than the DX2E, including model memory and $10-$15 rx's (Spektrum RX's are $40+)

Personally I sold my DX2E and bought a TS4G - the Hobbyking rebrand of the RS4G - the RS4Gs I linked above is an updated version. Great radio, built in gyro into the Rx that can be adjusted from the 3rd channel dial on the TX. Lots of options, and 10 model memory. I also have about 6-8 RX for my radios - that alone would be several hundred dollars if I had stayed with Spektrum. My only gripe on the TS4G - the default "Failsafe" is an airplane mode(full throttle, full right rudder), not a car mode(full stop) - but that can be easily reset from the menus.

I just got a combination of the suggestions above - Hobbyking 120a SC8 on 3s Lipo with a GoolRC 3000KV motor. This is on a Torment and it is an absolute beast.

Marly1, the Castle combo motors are a great upgrade and easy to program. My son has a GoolRc 4300 brushless in on of his DHK trucks and it's ok. The problem I have with it is you have to purchase a programming card to program the system. And yes, you will need to purchase a new radio.

All great suggestions so far - I think it all comes down to budget. If you dont have much to spend, GoolRC is the way to go. I think their weakness is their ESCs though. IMO Hobbywing is a good midrange option and a Castle Creations combo is better if u can afford it.

So, Why did you lose a wheel = Did the nut just come loose or did something break?? The Amp is not meant for that much power but it is a worthy experiment to push the limit and see what it can take :)

I did a few runs but with the same car/motor but with a 3s lipo, it was awesome and then I lost a wheel
Lololol this EXACT same thing happemed to me! Just got the car, 3 days in and wanted more power. Went 3s on 4300kv and lost a wheel and stripped a hex. Must have undertightened a nut? Either way, worst way to learn about picking correct power systems.

I'll be watching here...

I've just ordered a Hobbywing WP-1050BL/3300kv set up. I am not sure yet if it ill go in our Amp or 2WD Slash. It seems I may need something with more amps for the heavier Slash, especially running 2.8 wheels/tires. I think I'll go with the Castle SW3 combo. It's under $100 from Tower.

Any problems with the motor getting too hot?
