Anyone tried making custom axle shafts for their Barrage kit?

Hey there folks, just joined the ecx forums. I've been in rc since I was about 10, I'm 38 now so I've got a fair amount of knowledge/fabrication skills when it comes to rc cars. I just finished my Barrage kit about two weeks ago and suffered my first breakage, other than a weak servo. I had a course laid out in my garage today since it was pouring rain here in KY. Part of the run was elevated about 4ft. Above the floor and I rolled off of that section and landed on one of the back wheels. It wasn't a hard impact, but it was literally focused on one wheel. When I picked up the truck I noticed the wheel was kicked off at a weird angle. The axle shaft had been bent where the drive pin passes through the shaft to engage the hex. I removed the wheel and carefully tweaked it back straight, but as I tightened the wheel nut the shaft snapped in two. Major bummer! My question is this. Is there another crawler out there with similar shafts that are a little thicker in diameter that could be modified to fit the barrage axle housings? I've got literally hundreds of spare dogbones and cvds from other models in the garage. I'm thinking about using a set of heavy duty shafts from my HPI Savage Big block truck. I figure I can lop off the end of the dogbones, thread it, drill it, and then grind the necessary flats on the inboard end of the shaft. Bearings with a larger I.D. would be necessary, but I think I could order some pretty easily. Has anyone tried anything remotely close to this? I would just order new stock shafts but they're back ordered until forever at Horizon and A Main. I've also got a pair of front cvd's from my belt driven SC10 4X4 Factory Team short course truck. They're massive compared to the Barrage cvds, bit if I could make those work it would be bombproof! I've hid the boards nearly WFO with that truck head on and I'd didn't phase those axles. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks folks!

I've been having the same issue on my temper that I've installed barrage axles . Not that that design isn't poor to begin with )cuz I'm sure you have the axles with the hex headed spacer) cuz I had to come to the realization that not only has the design poor I was also tightening down the wheel nuts too tight and stretching out the hole for the PIN. I finally had to order a whole complete barrage doomsday kit and I'm waiting on it as I speak I believe the barrage doomsday axles are different than the older barrage models and are possibly stronger I ordered the hole truck cuz I noticed it was on sale for $100 better just to gut the new truck for its complete axle set up front and rear cuz I believe the shock and lower link connections are different then the old barrage axle housings

The ECX Barrage is the same truck as the HSP 136100 (the HSP pre-dates the Barrage). Here's the eBay link to a Spares listing, from which you should be able to get the parts you need.

I notice that they even have a listing for an Aluminium axle option (part 680037).
My question is the same as above except for are there any axle shafts upgrades with a bearing shoulder is 5mm instead of 4mm like the stock shafts and or aluminum axle housings for the barrage doomsday axles? If not what would be the best aftermarket aluminum housing substitution it's somebody could buy off the internet to replace the stock turn on the garage Doomsday

my question is pretty much same as above beefier preferably 5 mm at the bearing shoulder to replace stock axle shafts and swap a few larger diameter bearing sets in to make it more durable barrage doomsday axle shaft sets? Hey is there any aluminum axle housing upgrades on the market for the barrage doomsday axle housings? If not what would be the best substitution ECX or any other brand 4 that matter that would be a good application for the barrage Doomsday NBA more reliable durable stronger complete axle housing sets front and rear to place to stock do today running gear and preferably to connect right up with stock drivelines for the Doomsday?
