You have a ECX Smash. The battery connector is what most call a losi mini (plug) connector. Batteries that fit the Losi mini t should work. You need to have nimh 7.2v battery packs or the original AA battery tray.

Heres some links

Hey thanks alot for the information! Will have to order one up and a charger. Are these things easy to upgrade to go faster? What would be the first thing g to upgrade? Battery I assume?

Motor and esc would be the things I would upgrade first (after battery). If you want to stay brushed upgrade the motor. Brushless setups can be had cheap but don't know how fast you want to go. I prefer lipo over nimh but of course that will need a different charger and a esc with lipo cutoff. Stock brushed motor seems pretty slow (to me anyways). Youtube is a place to look for videos for the ECX smash to get a idea of the speed with stock motor and some aftermarket setups. How you proceed I will leave that up to you. Parts from the Losi mini t should fit because parts for the smash will be harder to find because it has been discontinued. At one time I was going to get a Smash but since its been discontinued I never pulled the trigger. I know the little I know by searching the web.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading the Smash beyond what you need to get it running. It's discontinued and thus parts will be more difficult to find. If you want to go faster without breaking the bank, look at getting an ECX AMP car-- either the Desert Buggy or the Monster Truck (they are 99.9% same under the body!) The AMP is VERY popular for good reason: highly upgradeable, easy parts availability, inexpensive, and tough as nails.

Welcome to the hobby!
