AMP MT General Upgrade Questions

i just up graded my sons amp mt with a kinexis 4000kv brushless with included esc, metal gears, flysky GT-3C radio with included receiver, and a 5000mah 2s lipo. Car is now fast as f***. There are a few things I am not sure about. 1. The throttle trigger is reversed. When I pull back the car goes in reverse I connected the colored coded motor wires to their corresponding colors on the esc. I can fix this using the reversing channel 2 on the controller. Is this normal? 2. Crazy sloppy in reverse. Wheels wobble like something is broken. I have read that I can install hot racing bell crank kit, but it’s very hard to do and I can’t seem to find any directions. 3. LIPO is new to me I programmmed the esc to cut off at 3.4 it was factory set at 3. Is this sufficient? The next available setting is 3.7. 4. With the cutoff set does that mean the car will stop working automatically? I don’t want my son to run the battery down too far and damage the battery. 5. 1c charging for this battery is acceptable? 1c= 5amps correct? 6. Is there a way to slow down initial acceleration so it doesn’t pop a wheely? I have the controller set to 70% dual rate and it still pops the front end up. I am also looking for tire recommendations that are plug and play. Something good on pavement and dirt? Should I replace the steering servo? If so what’s a decent replacement? Lastly why else should I upgrade. Thanks in advance

About the throttle thing. You can reverse it on your radio. The battery thing, read the instructions of your battery, they tell at what Voltage to cutt off. The cut off thing is the motor stops but not the steering. You have a 5000 mAh battery, so i would charge it max. 5 amps (to be safe). The wheellie thing, you have a nut on your clutch, if you losen the nut (a bit) it should slip the clutch instead of popping a wheellie. The wheel and tire thing, can't really help you with that. Don't have that car. Steering servo is not that great, but I would wait untill it breaks.

1. no worries, reversing on the remote is fine.

2. Fairly common for the wheels to wobble in reverse, even on a stock Amp. Not sure I've seen a method to take care of that. There is a lot of slop in the steering that could be taken care of with upgrades, possibly culminating in helping that.

3. 3.4V is where I usually set it. Only difference is if you don't plan to use it again for a while, then you'll want to storage charge it back up to about 3.7V.

4. Yes, usually throttle will not work but steering will when the LVC is engaged.

5. Generally safe to charge LiPo at 1c. If you post what battery you have we might be able to tell you if you can do more than that.

6. If you can get into the program settings for the ESC, there is a setting called punch control. Turn that down a little.

I wouldn’t run 3s on 4000kv it usually requires mods to transmission and motor mounts to get proper gearing. That motor will most likely get too hot and get damaged depending on weather.

I had that same motor and esc on 6400mah 3s 20c and the rotor exploded. Motor wasn’t even warm to the touch yet because it was cold out.

It will help having the throttle point set to 70% you might not have problems good fans are always a plus. But I’ve had bearings go out and wheels turn into suicide discs:D

My battery is a 2s 5000 Mah Venom. Is that a good combo for that motor?

I have a 2S Venom 5000mah the max my charger will do is 5 Amp. The charger is the Prophet sport plus from horizon. I wasn’t sure if less than 1c was safer.

Charge rates example 1c charge rate say your battery is a 3500mah battery charging at a rate of 1c then you would charge your battery at 3.5amps in your case a 5000mah at 5 amps. Less than 1c won't hurt but will of course take longer to charge. Your battery should work great with the Kinexis combo.
