Anyone out there purchased on of these for the torment 4x4? I did only since the price was low. But i cant figure out how to bind it with my controller. It only goes backwards! Doesn't come with any instructions or cannot find any information on the Internet help me !

is this for a brushed or brushless motor? If brushless you need to get the program card. If brushed check that your controller is set to N not R (for reverse). If there are no other switches "or jumpers" on the brushed ESC I'm not sure how you would change it.

Its for a brushless 3800kv motor the esc goes through 3 beep settings but i have no idea how to set it .

My goolrc troubleshooting notes state "If the car runs in the opposite direction, which the transmitter is available, please swap two wire connections between esc and the motor.
So baiscally make sure the transmitter is set for N for normal...if you have the option for R try R and see if it runs forward. But it sounds like you may need to swap a couple of the wires maybe yellow hooked to orange? Check with a voltmeter first IMO

I also suggest to get the correct program card they run like 7-11 bucks. just make sure to get the right one. i have the 3650 model I think (waterproof) its orange and the esc is orange and black with a fan. i got the LCD program card and it doesn't work. I have the s series card coming in (its red).

yeah I got the same one, only went in reverse, no matter what wires I changed. Then the red battery lead unsoldered itself, and the fan went out. On the on off switch (I think that s what it is, because there is no writing on the switch)? If you look closely there is another smaller button next to it. What does that do?!?.... The last one of these I got , I put the programming card to the escalator and when I pressed that little button, the program card lit up and I was like, "Hell yeah". Then before I finished the sentence, the entire ESC, incinerated itself. So now I am at the bridge of, "Maybe I should just not go cheap on this sh*!?! . " Anybody had any luck with these?. . . I've got a 4WD RUCKUS, and I've just got a brushless itch to scratch.

I have this combo and it works well. The fan is nearly broken (was like that out of the box really) and only runs 50% duty cycle and is very noisy. But the ESC never runs hot and the motor is punchy enough. Whether I'd buy it again or not really depends on if I can tone it down once I get the program card from it, it is a bit hard to control out of the box as both bunch and braking force are way high.

I know I'm buying parts with poor quality control and zero customer service, but
- it's an RC and things always break, why should the electronics be any different :p
- I'm not convinced paying 3x the price for having a warranty is value for money
- these parts are so cheap that you can experiment with it and buy new parts every now and then. RCing is tinkering, half the fun.

Touche' ol boy, it is the experimentation that is fun, seeing if this ,mixed with that, will get you more speed or torque or shock absorbtion, large tires lower etc. I like to go cheap ,or more inexpensive I should say, because, like you say, if I got a Tekin type setup with all that jazz that goes with it .I'd probably be reading a Traxxas forum, and not this one. Trial and error , though very frustrating at times, is a great part of this hobby. it's about having fun , no rules for that. (By the way I got a brushless esc that I thought was fried, up and running, paired it with a 3674 motor and .,....wait for it..... The motor does nothing.?!?? ) Take care

I purchased this combo here recently, worked out awesome.
The other combos I looked at seemed really cheap from the pics.
The motor ran in reverse when going forward, you just need to find the right combination of wire plugged together, then switch radio to reverse, you will be running straight.
Do not make it too complicated, keep it simple.
*Note, the cooling fins make a 540 motor have a smaller rotor. Some knowledge.
