    Convert AMP to Torment?

The Ruckus and Torment share chassis’s. You’d only need new bumpers, nerf bars, body mounts and tires/wheels. This is my Ruckus, turned Torment monster truck. I should say that there’s a little more done to this truck than bumpers and nerf bars though ?

    Reverse problem

Very common issue. Many articles here on how to minimize/eliminate it if you feel the need but it’s nothing to be concerned with otherwise.

Spur gear - To lube or not to lube

I don’t see a need to lubricate anything made of nylon/plastic. Even lubing or greasing a steel spur will cause it to attract and hold dirt and grit. So it’s a no for me dog.

    I cooked my clutch

I crank mine all the way down and back it off 1 to 1 1/2 turns. Been running like this for 20 years and never experienced a slipper failure. Most of the time when you blow a spur gear it’s because it wasn’t meshed properly, not because the slipper was too tight. The only benefit I see in running...

    AMP MT Aftermarket shocks

Been there, done that, and from my 20 years of experience in this hobby I can honestly say that properly tuned stock plastic bodied shocks are plenty good enough for 95% of our driving. 2 exceptions: serious racing and big air. These trucks are light enough that coming down from 5-6 feet in the...

Worth upgrading ECX AMP to metal parts?

Personally I keep the aluminum on the shelf queens and run RPM plastics on my drivers. RPM plastics are manufactured to much tighter tolerances and the plastic will flex back after impact rather than bend. And because it flexes, plastic is also easier on the next weakest point where aluminum is...

Need to upgrade old 2wd brushless ruckus for bashing

    Which part should i get?

I run and recommend the SECT288x06 shafts. I run a Castle SCT brushless on 2s and 3s with absolutely no issues at all and I run it hard.

Pinion gear and spur gear keeps coming loose

Also make sure each of those 2 motor screws have a lock washer between the head of the screw and the plate that’s sandwiched between the motor and those screws. This will both help keep tension on the screw and take away some of the length if the screw is bottoming out.

    Spur gear

    Glad you got it sorted

    Spur gear

I run a 48p with my Castle SCT on 3S and I run it hard - NEVER stripped a spur gear, even with a tight slipper. Went steel as a precaution and it’s quiet as a mouse ... if properly meshed. I also run 48p on my custom crawler. Ran 32p on my 17lb nitro Savage that spent more time in the air than...

    How to store cars?

I suspend mine using pegboard/pegboard hooks and I keep them upright so the tires are not against the wall.

    New/Used Torment, worth it?

It seems like a good deal to me.

    “Sand-proofing?”

Beach sand is very fine and there will be salt particles left behind also. Personally, I would NEVER take one of my “good” trucks to play at the beach (any sand for that matter). Good thing I also have a beater. As for washing your truck, make sure your electronics stay dry - even the ones that...

My Ruckus makes a clicking/grinding sound every time I try to turn. What should I do?

Most likely a servo on its way out - stockers are plastic geared and will only stand up to a couple decent crashes before you loose a tooth. Another cause, if it’s a 4x4 and doing this under power, could be wear in the front axles.

    Spur gear

Do not grease your spur gear. It will attract dirt and cause binding. 48p is absolutely fine as long as the mesh is proper, not to mention you’ll have more gearing options to fine tune.

    Metal spur gear????

While I agree that a steel spur gear is not necessary for most hard driving situations (as long as the gears are meshed properly), I do in fact run a steel gear as we do tons of skate park bashing. One piece of advice would be to loosen your slipper slightly if you do run a steel spur as it will...

    Bodies for Ruckus

I don’t remember the size but I just took the nerf bars with me to Home Depot and sized them up. Make sure you get nylon locking nuts so they stay put.
