    Questions about new 1/10 Torment

I did get a GoolRC Brushless combo but burnt out the ESC pretty quickly on 3s. Kept the motor and now running a Hobbywing 120a SC8 and loving that combination. But yes - I’d second that recommendation for a Gool RC Combo on 2s Lipo, great bang for buck

    Questions about new 1/10 Torment

@weave When I mentioned the ESC initiating low voltage cutoff at 6-6.4v, I was talking about total voltage of the 2S pack, not the voltage of the individual cells (I.e. 3-3.2v per cell). The standard Dynamite 60a WP ESC is actually not programmable - I just couldn’t remember what the factory...

    Are these upgrades worth?

I second the recommendation for HR front knuckles and RPM rears. Had RPM fronts before and had shoulder screws ripping on impact. HR fronts are perfect, strong, definitely need loctite blue.

    Questions about new 1/10 Torment

Good call...it’s the saddest thing having a new car and only getting 10 mins play after waiting a couple of hours to charge it!

    Questions about new 1/10 Torment

The ESC is designed to limit the throttle once the battery drops below a preset voltage (usually 6-6.4v) to protect the lipo. I found that turning it off and back on would allow it to run at full speed for a short while. Not recommended though as lipo batteries get permanently damaged when their...

    Questions about new 1/10 Torment

Welcome @phennessy! that's exactly how my torment behaved straight out of the box. Run time was absolutely terrible with stock 1800mah lipo. Id never get more than 10 mins out of it, even with the throttle limiter at 75% as recommended in the manual. If i was driving on grass or uphill, 3-5mins...

Recommendations for decent, inexpensive, digital MG servos?

I heard decent things about the MG996R...decided to give it a shot. The horns it comes with are absolute rubbish. Snapped one on the first run and switched to aluminium. Aside from that, ive been pretty impressed considering the price. Its taken a few hits and still going strong. Not waterproof...

What's the best brushless motor For amp

Lololol this EXACT same thing happemed to me! Just got the car, 3 days in and wanted more power. Went 3s on 4300kv and lost a wheel and stripped a hex. Must have undertightened a nut? Either way, worst way to learn about picking correct power systems.

Do I risk breaking my AMP if I use a lipo

So to clarify, the C in 30C stands for Capacity. So max discharge rate of 30C 2000mAh = 60A. Max discharge rate of 30C 4000mAh = 120A. This is the capability of the battery, but the system will only draw what needs. If your bottleneck is in your battery then lipo will make a notable difference...

    Which driveshafts for ECX Ruckus?

Ive had my eye on those MIP X duties too...they look amazing. @JvG did u swap out RPM Ruckus A arms for stock Ruckus A arms? Why?

    Sloop in the steering

@Aunion that's so awesome that it fits....looks rock solid. The pivot point is now behind the wheel and you've slightly increased the wheelbase. Do you notice any difference in handling?

    Which driveshafts for ECX Ruckus?

Ouch! I feel your pain :( Surely theres something else wrong? I mean 10 minutes omg!

Would you buy cheap and upgrade or buy expensive and not worry?

Great question. I think that buying a cheap car and upgrading is excellent, but you really need to know its limitations. For example Torment vs Slash. If you spent the difference in money on upgrades, id say you could end up with a better car. But if you took that same Torment and tried to...

Do I risk breaking my AMP if I use a lipo

Also, to add to the comments above, one thing that many people do not realise is that the discharge rate has a direct relationship with the battery capacity. Ie 30c 4000mah has double the discharge rate of 30c 2000mah. It can deliver double to current as well as close to double the runtime

    Which driveshafts for ECX Ruckus?

@JvG That sounds very similar to my setup! Interesting thing I'm seeing is the pinion size. I thought these came stock with 19T? I'm running 17T on mine with a looser slipper clutch. Hope the new axles work out better!

    Which driveshafts for ECX Ruckus?

Also @JvG in your second photo, it looks like the blue sleeve is grinding against your hubs? Could this be causing extra strain on the drivetrain? Have you checked for binding there?

    Which driveshafts for ECX Ruckus?

wow @JvG, that's shocking. Pls keep us updated on the Integy axles. I'm running the hot racing axles on 3S so you've gotten me a little concerned! What motor are you running? What is your punch setting and have you adjusted the slipper clutch?

What's the best brushless motor For amp

All great suggestions so far - I think it all comes down to budget. If you dont have much to spend, GoolRC is the way to go. I think their weakness is their ESCs though. IMO Hobbywing is a good midrange option and a Castle Creations combo is better if u can afford it.

Shoulder screws coming out of the RPM caster block

Its actually an ECX design flaw. If you have a look at the shoulder screw itself, the amount of thread that actually enters the spindle is only a few mm. I lost some screws and decided to try and get it temporarily and running with some regular 3mm screws and a makeshift spacer. I ended using...

What's the best brushless motor For amp

I just got a combination of the suggestions above - Hobbyking 120a SC8 on 3s Lipo with a GoolRC 3000KV motor. This is on a Torment and it is an absolute beast.
