What? Where's the love for the Boost?

The AMP cars have longer wheelbase and wider track-- the chassis is longer and swingarms are longer. :) The Boost is a true buggy in that it rides lower to the ground and is shorter and narrower. The AMP DB, even though it is styled as a "desert buggy" is really more of a "truck" (see the note...

    Shock Cleaning

Unfortunately you're going to have to just experiment to see what kind of service interval you get. As the piston moves in the shock body, it'll draw in air, fine particulate matter, etc. Driving in wet/muddy or dusty environments the shock will draw in some of that water and dust and it will...

    Battery timing

I'be been able to drive my AMP with a 15T 550 brushed motor and 5000mAh LiPo pack for 20-30 minutes at full speed (around and around our dirt driveway) with no issues beyond a hot motor. No slow downs, no overheating. My guess is the motor is damaged or otherwise defective. Did you properly...

    AMP MT Aftermarket shocks

I used the stock ECX shocks on my AMP/Circuit, Traxxas "Big Bore," and finally the ECX aluminum bodied "upgrade" shocks. I found the plastic ECX damper bodies actually had an "hourglass" shape (and it was inconsistent across all four units) which at the top and bottom of the stroke allowed oil...

    LIPO battery discharge rate

The discharge rate, expressed as "C" has nothing to do with the capacity, expressed as mAh (milli Amp hours). Your run-time will depend on the the power requirements of your electronics: motor, esc, servo, any attached lights or other accessories. The "C" rating provides information on the...

    Mid transmission/ race upgrades

Here's a video showing a Boost converted to MM. Here's a thread on RCTech that I believe shows nicer, cleaner images of a slightly different approach. I think you have to log in to RCTech to see the high-res photos.

Converting the AMP MT to a Circuit ST (to race!)

I'll second @MaX-D setup: I left the ball cups on the steering links to help protect the steering servo (since I don't use a servo saver).

    How to store cars?

@kontu I apologize-- I didn't mean to lecture you about batteries. I just kind of got on a roll. :) Cheers!

    Mid transmission/ race upgrades

I once saw a post (maybe at URC?) about a Boost that was converted to MM. It was a crazy kludge and the poster never followed up. It's an interesting idea, but I think you'd wind up with a negative ROI. Here's my thread about prepping my AMP/Circuit to something race-worthy. Post #34 focuses...

    Amp upgrade

Check the AMP racing thread-- answers there. On a side note, please don't post the same question or topic in multiple forums as this is the same thing as spam. Regards,

    How to store cars?

Definitely store the cars propped on a block or work stand so the tires are not touching the floor. I left a car sitting on the floor for a few months and the tires developed flat spots! Nothing permanent as they returned to round after a few scorching laps on the carpet at a recent race. :) If...

Converting the AMP MT to a Circuit ST (to race!)

@Love4$peed if you are asking for recommendations for metal links (steering, camber) please see post #34 in this thread. I started with Associated links for the camber links but the ball-and-cup was prone to popping off. I found the Traxxas captured ball turnbuckles to be better suited to the...

    1/18 Ruckus Shock oil

I'd go with 30 weight (350cst). The oil in my 1/18 Temper was 30 wt stuff. If it seems too viscous, maybe go with 25wt (275cst).

Is it okay to run Lipo’s on stock ECX Amp MT with voltage / monitor checker? Which parallel charging board?

From what I’ve been told and read, you just buy a parallel charging board for multiple batteries, and please tell me what makes someone choose 50C over 30C when it comes to Lipo’s? The higher "C" (which applies to LiPos only) rating means that the battery can be discharged and charged at a...

Is it okay to run Lipo’s on stock ECX Amp MT with voltage / monitor checker? Which parallel charging board?

@Rockstead you're not ready for LiPo batteries. (Not trying to be a jerk, but just getting right to the point.) When I got back into RC after a 23 year break, the technology was almost completely different. I got an ECX buggy with it's NiMh battery (very similar to the NiCd's I was used to) and...

When is a truck too old?

As far as I know not much has changed to the ECX 2WD cars. You should still be able to install ANY part for the 2WD Circuit. You can still buy bodies for the 2WD Circuit and a host of other parts from HorizonHobby.com. RPM makes some great replacement suspension "A-arms." Keep driving the truck...

    Servo problems.

@Paul the Spektrum S6170 would be a "drop in" replacement. It costs about US$27. While it would be something of an upgrade over the servo that was installed in the AMP, the S6170 still has a plastic gear-train and would likely break with heavy use (meaning the occasional collision with...

Tire recommendation for ECX Amp MT?

To trim a polycarbonate body (a typical RC car body) you'll want to use curved polycarbonate "body" scissors. They have short cutting blades to make is easy to cut tough polycarbonate and to cut out tight curves. Impossible to do with regular scissors. You can find the scissors at just about...

Tire recommendation for ECX Amp MT?

Sorry for the delayed response. Larger diameter tires and wheels will fit-- and as you mentioned you may need to trim the body to provide clearance. The only other thing is the hub offset-- the interior of the wheel might rub on steering links or other hardware while turning so watch of this.
