    Castle 3800kv motor?

I have the Castle sidewinder 3800kv in my AMP. Pretty much the perfect motor for this truck in my opinion. Clocked it at 34mph with obviously not stock gearing, but still drivable (which means it wouldn't over heat and cook after 5 minutes of driving). Very powerful and quick motor.

15T Motor - Running too hot

If you want a better motor and want to stay brushed the 12T Titan from Traxxas is your best best. They come stock in the Slash 2WD (base model obviously). It's 12T which is plenty fast. Equivalent to roughly 3300kv (if I remember correctly, the conversion between turns and kv's on brushless...

Driveshafts, the best on the market by far

I've never ran the Rustler driveshafts myself. I run the - I guess you could say "standard" Traxxas HD driveshafts. I run them on 2 AMPs both with brushless 2S setups and have never had an issue. That being said I only run 2S, so maybe on 3S they wouldn't hold up ? I'm not sure.

15T Motor - Running too hot

You most likely have toasted the motor. A 15T motor runs faster but has less torque than the stock 20T, so with that said by decreasing your gear ratio dramatically you effectively put more load, on a weaker motor - torque wise. Adding methods of cooling won't/wouldn't have made a difference...

Driveshafts, the best on the market by far

MIPs are good, I don't think I've ever seen anyone say otherwise. There are just too many drawbacks to having metal driveshafts to me personally.

Converting the AMP MT to a Circuit ST (to race!)

I'd honestly just go with Taxxas HD drivesshafts. You need a weak link somewhere in your drivetrain incase you bind up. I used to run an all metal setup and learned that lesson the hard way. Additionally, metal driveshafts add a substantial amount of weight to run, your performance will be lower...

    Gearing for best battery life

Generally stock gearing is usually the best balance for all things considered; Motor temps, top speed vs. Acceleration, battery life... Any time you alter gearing it effects all those things.

    Please help. Driveshaft spindle slipping

Can you remove the plastic piece from the metal shaft ? Or is it capped on. My first attempt would be to try to slide the plastic yoke down the shaft a bit, and try some super glue or jb weld or something on it, and slide it back. See if it holds the yoke in place.

ECX AMP MT - is it worth upgrading to Brushless motor if I’m not ready to use LIPOs?

It appears we are both incorrect. Just dug out my castle manual for curiosity, default Lipo setting is 3.2v. 0v/5v/6v/9v/12v are the other options. Regardless I've never had a problem. My first Genz-Ace that died after 3 years had it's last go in my backup truck which was running the goolrc...

ECX AMP MT - is it worth upgrading to Brushless motor if I’m not ready to use LIPOs?

Yeah, well that might also be a quality thing as well. I know on my Castle I can set different voltage cutoffs, there's like 5 options or something. I always just leave it at stock LIPO setting (3.7). But I also had a... gool rc ? Setup in another truck for awhile. Performed just fine.. but...

ECX AMP MT - is it worth upgrading to Brushless motor if I’m not ready to use LIPOs?

The internet loves to magnify the 1%, and everybody's got a story of a friend of a friend and such... don't buy into it so much. As long as you just keep an eye on your LIPO while charging, or put them in a special bag you can get, they're just as safe as any other battery. I've run many...

Best motor for ecx ruckus 2wd

Castle 3800 SCT motor/ESC combo. Stock spur gear, throw in a 28 tooth pinion - do 35mph all day long with no heat issues (unless it's like 100 degrees out). But even then - as long as you wern't just doing speed runs back and forth repeatedly it will probably be fine. That's how I run mine...

Sounds like you just broke the reciever unfortunately. Luckily you can buy a new one without having to buy a new remote.

    CVDS FOR AMP MT

Not sure about the Stampedes driveshafts. But I do know now Traxxis HD driveshafts do work and are a nice upgrade over stock. I snapped a few stock and went to the Traxxas ones and havnt broken one since. They do require a bit of modding though to get on. I'll try to get the part number later...

    WTB 87T Spur Gear

I run on everything. From speed runs and donuts on hot pavement to mud, sand, you name it. Again I'd have to suspect your gear mesh or motor not being tight enough. I stripped my fair share of spurs before getting the hang of setting gear mesh.

    WTB 87T Spur Gear

If you're stripping gears that much chances are you're not setting your gear mesh properly, or making sure your motor is mounted tight enough. I've run the 48 pitch gears on a number of brushless systems and in 4 years only stripped a few of them due to me being new, and not setting my mesh...

bit of AMP upgrade parts help please

The poor handling due to the plastic ball cup turnbuckles is by design. They're supposed to pop off when you crash to save other parts. Mainly your servo. I installed the Servo Saver Eliminator and have pondered the turnbuckles but ultimately decided against them. Now whenever your crash your...
