I did post this in another thread but wanted to make a new one so people might find it easier. I am new to electric cars and this has been fun doing the research and getting all this info from you all. What I wanted out of this was a fun little backyard basher. I didn't want to invest a whole lot into a machine until I figured out if I was going to stick with it on these electrics.

That being said here is what I did to make the stock chassis and electronics setup perform to a level where it is actually a little exciting.

15T motor. I went with Arrma for no other reason than I like their branding.

7.4v 2s 35c 5200mah Lipo battery. I don't know anything about this company but the price was right to try it out. So far it works just fine and gets you about a 40 minute run time.

Onboard low voltage alarm. These came in a pack of three and have a very loud alarm when you reach your low voltage setting. I simply mounted this on the battery itself. You can't use the stock battery keeper with this battery so you will have to get a strap of some sort. I cut one of those velcro cord keepers off the power supply for my laptop and it works like a champ.

Charger. This was affordable and had good reviews and it works just fine so far. It will do any lipo up to 6s. And of course it will charge any other battery you might have. It doesn't come with a Traxxas connector but they make cheap little adapters available at most local hobby shops or you can find them online.

I have not measured the exact speed but it is definitely fast enough to have fun with these upgrades. I am saying somewhere between in the high 20's if not 30. I am sure when I get the 20T pinion on it will be 30+. I just kept the gearing stock for now though. And that part is very cheap at around $6 and easy to install. Just make sure you match the pitch. The stock gearing pitch is 48P.

All that will cost you about $120.

My next steps are going to be changing out the shock oil, adding a little weight to the front and that should be it for me. It will suit my needs just fine...

So the stock servo finally failed. But to be honest I have been rough on this little truck. Tons of backyard abuse, a few skatepark bashing sessions, plenty of cartwheels, failed backflip attempts etc...

So I have a Hi Tec 645MG in there now so we will see how long that lasts. I still have a servo-saver eliminator kit I have not installed but not sure when I will do that. From other threads here it seems it might not make that big of a difference....
