AMP with a front wing !?

Hi,

Like most of us I've made some changes to my AMP. Pinions, spur gears, brushless, even using 1/8 th wheels. Anyway it's fast, and I love the 2wd challenge of it. I'm thinking of adding a front wing for high speed manoeuvring.

Anyone had experience with front wing?
Would love to hear it.

Have ordered some bits, will update soon.

This was my second attempt at a front wing for this formula 1 inspired road set up. Used some aluminum flat stock to mount the rear wing from an aarma truck to the front bumper mount location.

Thanks Mate,

Looks awesome, although a little larger than what I am thinking.
nevertheless do you or did you notice any change in handling with the introduction of the front wing???
I'd be keen to know if you tried with and with out it.

I'm turning alright. I did add some weight to the front to help steering but have now removed it and am doing fine. Just after that little edge in keeping speed around corners.

Your rear wing looks magical. again awesome. Mine is all broken, yet still there, but I've always thought with the AMP being a rear mounted motor, is a rear wing necessary?? There is so much weight on the back already keeping the tires down.

Originally I tried the stock wing mounted as a front wing. That worked really well, the photo shows version 2. Both gave great straight line stability at high speeds. With version 2 the extra grip front caused oversteer. I was usually searching for more rear grip. It was a lot of fun to set up and learned a ton.

Lately I’ve been driving my amp db off road. Again found the need for a front wing and experimented with this one. It worked really well but wasn’t durable enough for off road.

Had some deliveries!

But you'll see in the images it's not a perfect match. I was hoping to mount it mid height on the shock tower as to not break when the buggy flips but to also have some effect . The mount lines up perfectly with the lower screw holes, I doubt it'll do much down low in line with the buggy (although I could be wrong) but I think I'll have to do some magic to fit it a bit higher.

Update time.
Ok had it installed for a couple of weeks, havent' been back at the track but did get a few goes off road but on a smooth surface. I managed to get some high speed driving and turns. I'm sure it made a difference. It's very small so I'm dubious about it and really do need to try it on the track to be sure, but so far so good.
I ended up mounting it through some new holes I drilled through the shock mount. I picked the thickest part of the plastic as to cause minimal loss of strength. I've landed upside down a few times and it hasn't got in the way or even hit the dirt, so I'm happy with that.

Two photos as I just got these piggyback shocks and want to give the front a bit more weight to help steering even more. One photo with the shocks upright and the other upside down. I think upside down is the go. Oh, I didn't have these shocks on with the first front wing trial so it was a proper comparison that there was a noticeable change in high speed steering. Cost to performance ratio is not so good though.
