Any Suggestions on brushless combos?

Looking for suggestions on brushless motor/esc combos. I recently purchased a 1/10 4x4 Ruckus and it isn't quite as fast as I had expected. I would like to continue using the stock batteries for now but want the option to upgrade to Lipo at a later date. I was hoping to find something in the $100 range. I'd like more top speed without drastically sacrificing torque or battery life. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Something in the 4-5 thousand kv range would be good. For the price just an ebay serup would work fine and can be had for around 60 bucks.

@drkennethnoisewater, Goolrc has the best bang for your buck cheap but, good brushless motors. I've been running two different sized motors from them for a while now in my 2wd ruckus. With a 120a Hobbywing esc, geared to run cool.
I can't vouch for Goolrc's esc but, their motor esc combos are priced cheap on Amazon.

Kinda like this,

With this

And this

Only thing about the hobbywing esc is you have to solder motor connectors and battery plug of your choice. It does come with 4mm motor connectors. I own two of these and they run awesome.

Hope this helps.

guy at the lhs has one with the castle setup up and it is quick on the stock battery but then he but a 3s lipo in it and WOW is screams

Right now I have a Traxxas 3500Kv system in my ruckus, it's OK. The main issue I have with this setup is the shaft on the motor is so long you have to clearance gear cover in order to put it back on. I have a Hobbywing 4 pole system that I'm planning on putting in this weekend hopefully.

for what you are asking, just leave it like that for now. when you are ready for lipos and the rest of the electronics i recommend hobbywing ezrun 60a and a 3000kv - 3900kv four pole motor.
that setup will not break the bank and you will see a mayor improvement from stock while keeping temperatures at bay.

I have to second this advice. I went back and read the first post again. Brushless on NIMH batteries is kinda a let down besides any decent brushless setup will absolutely eat NIMH packs for lunch. You won't see the speed you want and your runtime could actually decrease due to the current draw on the NIMH packs. I'd go lipo first then get the brushless setup.
