Awesome build. Is this still a possibility?
Where do I begin........

Your question "is it still a possibility"?

I know I started the season with this car (3 club races to be exact). Battled through the struggles, the struggle of handling, the struggle of it being able to stay planted to the track, the struggle of it not imploding when something broke.

ECX had a great idea trying 1/8th scale, it's just the metals used did not wear well. They only had this car out for a short time, and they did have quite a few optional upgrades. ECX branded upgrades. I had everything that was available, on this car.

Back to possible....yes it is possible. Yes, can it be raced. Can it be competitive with other brands, absolutely not. Is it a great platform to learn on, yes. Should you go search for this car, because you really enjoy this brand, to get into 1/8th scale, NO. If you have the car already, sure, YES look around for the upgraded parts.

ECX sway bars are to aggressive. Buy some 1.4mm to 2.0mm piano wire and make your own for front and back. You will need to custom bend to provide clearance of the out drives. ECX brand sway bars hit, I know, imploded front diff.

Outdrives are stupid soft and drive pins are soft also. Pressed in after market pins, but never found different brand for outdrives. The diffs slightly leaked, were not really setup for diff oils.

Arrma shocks were not the answer.
HB racing 819 buggy shocks for the win.

Mugen Seiki MBX7/8 buggy body mounts up with minimal modifications.

I reinforced steering arm. Also need to add shims to steering rack. I can't quite remember what happened, I think it pops off.
Yeah, someone bought my car on eBay and that was there feedback....umm steering looks rigged. He didn't know that that is needed. What ev.

Bashing, it's decent! I would bust arms and hinge pins on too big of air.

Now, on road speed runs, sure! Make it go fast and use thickest diff fluid.
I did run this car on road with street tires, fun.

If you have actual questions on the build, ask away.
I don't own this car, it's long gone. I sold EVERYTHING.

Thank you for the response Sir. I got the car free and picked up a few upgrades as well. Being my first 1/8 buggy, I will use it as a 2nd filler class. I'm going to follow your guidance and just have fun with it. The speed run idea is interesting.

I'll post an update for others on how this comes along. With you pointing out the weak out drives and some brittle parts, I picked up some extra bits. I do hope hope the ECX universal shafts are of decent quality at least. I'm waiting to see how resilient the suspension arms are. I've aptly heard them described as, "made from noodles". Lol. It's life will be at a small local track named Hobby Etc. Hobby Shop and Raceway.

Newest update...the front and rear dog bones were the same length so I added the upgraded CVD axles front, and rear. Thank you to Horizon for hosting a huge ECX blowout sale.

Finally a Saturday with no rain. Started out on the new JConcepts Reflex tires in a green compound. The track surface hadn't really grooved in, and out of that single groove was pretty fluffy. These tires did work in the groove, but were bad in the flour. Since this is my first time wheeling an Ebuggy, I left the 3 cell system that came with the car. I'm unsure of the Kv rating of the motor, but it provides plenty of power in the turns, and the short straight at Hobby Etc. Raceway in NH. I also did some wing mount bracing per your recommendation, as well as not running a front sway bar, due to outdrive clearances. Universal's have been installed front and rear, and new driveshafts installed. I swapped to Blockades after the first round. The car was more manageable. It jumped and landed well with the stock supplied shocks after some tuning with oil. I will be adding shock boots to the shocks to protect the shafts which gathered lots of debris. My runs were repeatedly shortened by the switch turning off mid race. I was leading the Cmain when it happened a final time that day. Time for a switch change after I evaluate it further. Otherwise, maybe go up on my center diff oil weight to play with my handling some. Not sure what I'm looking for, but having fun learning this car that was given to me by a friend to bash with. Sorry Dan, bashing isn't in my blood.

Another rainy Saturday. I'll be ultra ready for next week, fixed my switch problem by turning the switch in the opposite direction so it stops turning off when it takes a front impact. The shock package feels good with a 50wt on all four corners. I'll play with it over time, but for now tire selection is phase one, with a slight change in center diff oil after that. I also picked up some new shock shafts and a set of shock boots as the Hobby Etc. track is a bit abrasive. The car seemed durable enough on its first outing, but while looking at the body mounts, they seem minimal. I'll source another set.

Last week was again a frustrating day at the track. Switch problems again, even after remounting in a different position and adding a little thick grease to inhibit this very free switch from being so sensitive. It didn't work the way I planned, so by the Main I had my fill of this problem and Shoe Goo stopped the switch from continuing this annoying gremlin. The car felt good in the C Main again because of poor qualifier finishes. Then came the noise that ended the days as not to tear up my drivetrain.
