DIY Rock Sliders

Hey everyone, I’ve only had my Barrage gen 2 for about a month now but am loving it so far. I wanted a set of rock sliders for it, but all of the available ones you can buy seem expensive to me for what they are. I ended up getting a 3’ long, 3/16” diameter steel round from Lowe’s for between 3 to 4 bucks, can’t remember exactly what it cost. If you take a look at the rocker panel from the inside of body, you’ll see that the rod will fit almost perfectly there. I cut two sections, one for each side, to the length of the rocker panel then used a couple dabs of hot glue on each side to hold the rods in place where I wanted them. I followed up with JB weld to permanently attach them to the inside of the body. Looking at it from the side, the rods are barely visible on the bottom, just enough so to serve their purpose. For about $10 or less, I’m happy with how it turned out. Not nearly as nice as a set from Scaler Fab, but it’ll do for now. And I’ve still got an additional 2’ or so of rod left that I plan to try and make a more true set of rock sliders with down the road. Couple pieces of advice to anyone wanting to try it out:
1. At first, I tried to just use hot glue to permanently attach them. This did not hold up(obviously). I put it on thicker on one side, which ended up warping the body a bit. So be careful how much hot glue you use to hold them in place.
2. It’s probably best to do one side, let it dry overnight, then do the other. I did both at the same time, and the JB weld started running a bit. I used q-tips to wipe up the excess and ultimately try and make it look a little nearer on the inside.

Hopefully somebody else can find this as useful as I did.6F8407F3-9706-4A9B-AA51-310838081077.jpeg8BE54E23-549A-4602-809D-D708943F237E.jpeg8776E26E-C743-41AE-8DF9-1090915D7D40.jpegCE59542E-7F6E-4E63-95F8-E47A1EF93347.jpegB3DC0683-AEAA-4932-BA5B-6DD6FDF726EF.jpegC09EC220-154C-42ED-A21B-3FE0F59E526B.jpeg
