I Have an ECX AMP and i would like to do some upgrades but i don't know where to start

Give me your ideas:)

Cheap brushless setup nothing extreme. Metal trans gears if you go brushless or want to run 2s on brushed motor. Real oil shocks. Get rid of the factory radio. Steering servo. Better tires. Aluminum hexes. Small simple things. Makes it more fun. It don't have to be the fastest on world to be fun also. It's a great rig.

All those are cheap upgrades..just write them down. But some priority to them. Number them from 1 being what you want the most. To 10 being least. Then get to it. Price them up and run as long and hard as you can. Hopefully you don't break anything along the way and you'll have your list finished eventually and a killer rig

is tazer twins a good engine?
Yes it's decent. My first brushless set up in the amp was a goolrc 3900kv 36$ special. Lasted for about 2 years. Was still working when I took it out. That, metal trans gears, stock spur and diffent pinions, 3s and tires. Would run 54-58mph all day realiably

Which pinion is needed ?

Well found the pic of it. Just no gear shot. And my notes. 81spur/23 pinion. Tires were trenchers at first and 108mm from nitro rc. Premade trenchers ballooned too much. But was great on grass and sand. If you buy the ones you needed to glue you can fix the ballooning problem. And then they ran decent on asphalt too. Both tires allowed decent on/off road traction. Just the nitro rcx tires are cheaper lol

Awesome! So if I wanted a cheap brushless setup, I need the metal transmission for sure right ? And I can run the stock motor pinion or no? My amp mt will be here in few days. I’m going to run 1060 hobbywing esc and aftermarket servo right off the bat

You will want the metal transmission for sure. But I honestly got by about 30 days before changing it. It just depends on how hard your gonna bash. Its more for piece of mind. I seen a 5700kv setup with stock trans hold up over a year and seen one trans fail after 5 mins of 4370kv set up. also consider changing your axles to handle more power. Search here on site. You have a bunch of options. Also keep in mind.... Expensive is not always best option. Ask folks what they have done foe options. Yes your stock pinion will work. But I personally recommend picking up a pinion set with a bunch of Different tooth options. Also get a cheapo infrared temperature gun. You gear your motor/esc/batts to temp. You will find a sweet spot. And all motors while maybe close..the setup may be a little different to run efficient. Everyone has different ideas what they like. But I like Esc no hotter than 155f after 5 mins, motor no hotter than 165f after 5 mins, and batteries no hotter than 130-140f during spring day. Or you will kill them prematurely. Those what I like. Look around others will say different. But that's my preferences. You should be able to run decent fast and reliable without extra motor fans or heat sinks. Those help. But setup up best you can without them :)

thanks for your help! Excited to build for sure. Just finished my nova fox yesterday but too pristine to bash. This amp mt is going to be driven for sure.

Good looking fox. I am just finishing up my f104 brb ill go take a pic of it.
Thanks!! I have quite a few tamiyas but don’t run very much because of parts availability and fear of breaking. That led me to ECX which is newer vehicles and tougher with easy parts availability

I run a bunch. Tamiyas and others too. Love rc. Yeah have some first gen tl01 that I refuse to drive. There is no replacements unless you find used. ?

The f104 is to go with my buggyra. So its a matching set. My f104 body not done yet. Just need to add a few more decals. And I should have masked the bottom and did two tone with black. But forgot to. So stuck with what I have. Lol
