Hi fellas!
It's been a long time since my last own post. I told you in a recent post that I was working on my Ruckus, and I think you'd like to see my actual progress.
As a plastic modeller, I've always enjoyed building and painting, and a lot more when you finish your RC and you can enjoy watching, playing and bashing it!
I wanted a Monster Truck body for my Ruckus, and I bought a Chevy Escalade body by JConcepts:

I also got a set of body post extensions and a generic set of monster truck wheels and tyres:

Everything was fine, no surprises at all. My masking tape was a bit dirty at the edges, so I got a cheap one that seemed good. More on that later.
I masked off my bodyshell, started cutting my design and when I called it done, I started peeling the first colour to be painted and the disaster began...IMG_20240828_151354_1.jpg
The paint started flooding under the microlines present in the tape, and I had even pressed everything with a cotton bud, a bamboo stick and my fingernails, all in vane. I don't have any pics of the ****ing disaster, my thoughts were of smashing the whole thing into pieces...
Next day, I cleaned up the bad start with a mix of white spirits mixed with alcohol, and washed immediately after with soapy water, to diminish the whitening effect of the solvent. No whitening or clouding present in the pristine lexan, good.
I thought I should start masking, cutting and peeling the whole thing again, but I realized that it was going to be almost impossible to cut all the design just in the exact same lines again, I also had forgotten my airbrush at home, though I have a better compresor in my parents-in-law villa where I was painting and spending holidays that my own at home...

Why don't you use the cutting line marks as a painting guide???
OMG.
Never thought of something like that before.
Never heard or seen someone painting a serious, proper, modeller-owned, nice-looking RC rig by BRUSH...

I didn't think it was to be a decent paint job, but me and my family liked it. More than I thought in the beginning.
The worst thing is that I missed every other line and colour, but I solved it scraping with a toothpick before the paint cured completely. I could even rub and erase paint from two days before. Not easily, but I did it. Another problem is that light colours as red and yellow need two or three coats to cover properly.

Once finished, I couldn't believe that I was going to achieve such a good result. IMG-20240829-WA0022.webpIMG-20240829-WA0021.webpIMG-20240829-WA0020.webp
Besides my airbrush, I also forgot the shell stickers, front and rear lights and grill. I also painted the tyres, I'll post more pics when finished (tyres and stickers)
Hope you like it, tell me what you think about it. Cheers from Madrid, Spain!
