What's the ideal pinion size. I do mostly bashing.
What kind of motor/esc setup do you have?
Ex: 2,4,or 6 pole brushless, 540-550 motor size? Voltage setup(NiMH, 2s, or 3s)? Pinion and spur type(48p, mod, other). Gear teeth and what you want?
Do you happen to know temps on your motor and esc? If you can’t hold your finger or whatever on the esc for more than a few seconds then gearing is too high and requires a smaller pinion (accept for extreme cases of pinion too small which would be insanely slow anyway) I haven’t had to deal with that much so I’m fairly confident that’s not the prob.
If gearing is too high the motor will likely be hot too. Extreme gearing is really only for speed runs.
Thanks for the info.
Currently running stock gearing, 12t pinion 48t spur mod 1. 7 cell 8.4 nmh. Just put in a Velineon Vxl-3s 3500. Didn't run it yet, just trying to get ideas on best setup. Don't want to ruin new system.
