I know its a click bait title.
Well with a pair of Torments left over from kids was small, I used the morning to get the brushed one going.
Injora 12T, 27t pinion, because I had it, and stock spur.
So running around the yard, on 2S, enjoying the power, speed, doing oval practice making circles sorta.
Then over a hump and a little air.
Oops, well guess be ordering a set of $40 metal gears off amazon while I can still get them...
I have Traxxas Slash too, its really curious the Torment is more stable in turns.
The Slash is a roll over machine, it likes to flip all the time, not much faster with BL2S system in it.
My other Torment has VXL brushless system and even at 2x the speed of the slash same HCG type chassis as a slash.
It doesn't roll over as bad...

I with ECX would stay in the game, and sad that Duratrax left us with abandon ware too. I really like my Evader ST too, better than the traxxas cars I have.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that is trying to keep our Torments alive. I just redid mine with a new BL system and 32p gears. I've had mine for 12 years and it is still going. I'm sad that the ECX brand is being disconnected, but I have found a new RC manufacturer, Arrma.
I have 3 Arrma RC'S, the Granite 4x4 3s blx, the Gorgon 2wd Monster Truck and the Vorteks 2wd Truck. They a inexpensive and seen to be as durable as the ECX Torment.
I'm going to still run my Torment 2wd SCT, but now we have more options.

Just recently got a free 2wd Torment & decided to revive it but also upgrade the electronics too. Put a new Hobbywing 10BL120 ESC with a 5400kv motor in it. Keeping the stock gearing until I better understand what gearing will be better. The Steering Servo however is horrible & will be the next upgrade.

They are a great Bashing platform. Hard to break and fun to drive.

I just got an opportunity to grab one up for free as well. I got the guys 1/8 Revenge last trip, but he had a Torment that I turned down. I think I'll go back and pick it up. Been running a Losi 22 at the back of the pack for a couple years now, maybe shake things up a bit.

I just put in the hot racing bell crank and arms HRAECT4806 and it is an absolute game changer. So stable and responsive now. Completely got rid of that wiggle that happens in reverse. I just ordered the 10BL120 ESC and 5400KV motor from Hobbywing too, how do you like it so far?

Yeah, it’s a game changer until you bend it like a pretzel because it’s made of aluminum butter. Keep the spring tension as absolutely loose as you can tolerate.

The RPM unit is a much better piece for any ECX intended to be used

Good to know. RPM is superior in strength I think in everything they do. Not bashing this one, trying to squeeze every bit of speed out of it for fun so a really tight steering was the target. SO far so good lol. How did your bend yours jumping and stuff or some crashes?

Neither - off road speed runner (Ruckus) using stock dimension tires. 50ish mph sustained suspension articulation, no crashes or jumps. Had it super tight to take all the play out of the steering so I could set an accurate front toe and have it locked in not moving all around. I went to bend it back (it twisted, two of them), and TIG weld more material onto it to beef it up and their metal is full of impurities and porosity. I’d bet someone could bend that right out of the bag with their bare hands.

All of their products are a joke because of the Chinesium. I only use them for steel spur gears and things you can’t get elsewhere. Oh, and they are going to ignore any attempts to contact them about a warranty claim

Aluminum arms are the worst things to use on bashing and off-road.

Aluminum arms are great for drag or on road.

My opinion, I would never use aluminum arms.

You forgot shelf queens, they are also good for them. Though I don't subscribe to that religion. Sometimes people just see shiny parts online and they have to buy them and find out why on their own
