The listings I've seen for the ECX Roost 1/18 leave out a few things that are helpful to know for tinkering and upgrades. These are mostly my own measurements and notes.
Most surprising is that the listed ground clearance of 1.22" is way too high. I measure about 0.75" at the front.
- Motor is 25 turns, with a 2.5mm shaft (no flat spot, just ridges for a friction fit pinion).
- Two extra pinions in the box: 16T and 18T.
- One extra spur in the box: 58T.
- Tires are 2.5" outer diameter.
- Wheel offset is 0.65" from inner side to the hex.
- Stock speed is about 14mph. It's easy to get to 17mph with the included 18T pinion and keeping the stock 60T spur.
