Servo Option for Amp MT

I'm looking at making a Servo upgrade as per @WoodiE 's recommendation in the Amp MT upgrades thread (I've seen a few others recommend this too due to the stock Servo being some what underpowered).

I'm finding the steering a bit flakey on the Amp, slow to corner at speed with quite a wide turning circle - especially with the 15T motor. I'm hoping a servo upgrade will result in more responsive handling.

I was looking to spend around £30-£35 for a waterproof, higher torque/speed option.

Any experience from the forum members of the following (in order of my current preference) or alternative recommendations.
I believe my ESC steps voltage down to 5v.

- SRT DL5020 LV - 16.5 kg / 0.18 sec
- Savox SW0231MG - 12 kg / 0.20 sec (fit could be an issue due to case size)
- Spektrum S6020 - 7.2 kg / 0.23 sec (pending confirmation from Horizon it's Waterproof).

Any suggestions on Optimum Torque and Speed values for a truck like Amp MT?

By your currency amount you are looking to spend I would have to guess your in the UK. I would look at this servo for your requirements https://www.modelsport.co.uk/power-...-metal-gear-servo-blue/rc-car-products/404890. The Savox you list would be too tall to fit and the Spektrum seems slow and weak by its specs, also doubt it's waterproof. Honestly, unless you run in the rain, a lot of puddles, or in a lot of snow, I don't think you need a waterproof servo. But if you really want to have better steering get the RPM servo saver eliminator and at least a 15kg metal gear servo. Want an inexpensive option although not waterproof get a JX PDI 6221MG servo.

Thanks for the suggestion.

@5v the PowerHD and the SRT seem to deliver the same performance

PowerHD is rated for :

Torque: 16.5 kg
Speed: 0.18 s

However, I just found it on eBay for £17.99 which makes it significantly cheaper.

In regards to the waterproof requirement, rain and puddles? That pretty much describes a british summer perfectly :).

Hello all,

I'm new to RC
- Savox SW0231MG - 12 kg / 0.20 sec (fit could be an issue due to case size)
I ordered this one after reading a post in this forum.
It won't fit at all ?
Is it possible to make some modification to arrange that ?

PS : i want to install it in a circuit (my car) to transfer the circuit servo to the AMP (my son's)

RC_Noob, while your at it, think about changing out the servo saver as well. This is the one i put in my Amp and what a difference it made in my steering along with my Savox servo.

Hello,

because of your video and another one i do not remember, ii already ordered the aluminium servo saver.
Thanks for the advice :)

So you have successfully install a savox servo in the amp ? so ii also can do that on the circuit

Great video immo ;)

I have ordered aluminum parts and servos from Banggood. They will take a few weeks to get here. For the servo saver I put a small zip tie tight around it and it made a huge difference. Here is what I have on the way for my Amp MT.

[CA$17.93 8% OFF]KS-3518 Digital Servo 20KG Waterproof 180° Metal Gear https://www.banggood.com/KS-3518-Di...-Large-Torque-For-RC-Robot-Arm-p-1422906.html

There was a flash sale too sooo:

It’s only good for 2S but it will be plenty for this Amp MT.

Can’t find the Servo saver steering kit on their site. Link!? Thanks in advance bro

I didn’t buy the RPM servo saver after reading through this forum because the zip tie fix is simple, fast, zero cost and fixed it better than the RPM version based on reports I read here.

I do have that new servo on the way and I will take pictures of the install (maybe video) and then report on the results.
