Brand new AMP kit - steering servo connection question

Hello all. New member... First post.

I bought my kid an AMP kit and he assembled it by himself. When it came time to connect the servo to the receiver, it seems the connector only actually mates together if the wires do NOT match up. The connector on the receiver is Red, Black, White, and on the server it's White, Black, Red. See pic.

Is this normal? I suspect it may have been wired wrong. The manual provides no info on this.

I ask because the servo is completely 100% dead/unresponsive - zero steering - can't even hear it.

Thank you. I had to force connectors in to match the wires. It required so much force I almost thought the connections would break. So odd that it it would connect effortlessly the wrong way. Seems quite counter-intuitive. Anyway, it now works. Thanks!
