I want to get this area, thread revived. The ECX platform of 1/8th scale has the basics. I don't get why ECX stopped making 1/8th scale. Regardless, if your looking to perk up your buggy, this will be that thread.

I am taking an ECX Revenge Type-N (nitro) and converting to Type-E (electric). This will be built around using on Off-road, mild to loose dirt racing tracks. Adjustments will be made for other conditions too. It will be ran Club level and Competition. I realize there is other brands, yes, but what fun is that? Enjoy!

What motor and ESC will you be running?
Since it's going to be my boys and he does not run much. I am budget build/upgrading.
ESC that I will be running;
SkyRC Toro Aluminum TS150 PRO Sensored ESC with programmer.

Motor I will be running is;
HobbyStar 4268 Brushless, Sensored, 2150KV 4-pole.

I have not selected my SERVO yet!

From a technical/mechanical perspective I am really interested to see how you make the conversion to electric. I've never looked into how internal combustion engines engage with the transmission.

Thanks for sharing!

It's really not that hard. You remove all the Nitro stuff, minus center diffs (including brakes and such). The stock electric motor mount will mount right in. The Nitro to Electric chassis, front/rear diffs, and suspension are all the same. I bought a battery tray and motor plate. I will eventually see what suspension crosses over. I have enough parts to break a few things. I do know that Aarma shocks off their new 6S buggy works, I already have them installed.

I have done an conversion on my Mugen truggy. Just waiting on my electronics for that one.

Alright, i am waiting on my differential grease. Kyosho sells different diff weights........yes, oil is better. ECX did not design these diffs for oil, no seals or room for seals. I am going to run 5000 wt and 3000 wt diff grease.

**UPDATE.....ECX does have seals on the outdrive, I have new ones coming. Stock had grease, so I am going to try diff oil. If it leaks, I will go back to original plan**

I didn't want to run aftermarket brands, they really don't use a numbering system per se'. I want to know what I am running.

I like to dig into a used roller, regardless the shape they come in to KNOW what I got. These diffs was more on the dry side! An good race or bashing with new electronics would of ran them too warm and BAM! New rebuilds of diff!
(Dis-assembled, I did not remove any grease from spider gears or start cleaning yet. You can see how much was in there.)

I have not removed Nitro yet! I am trying to rip into differentials and few other items to make sure I have everything, while I wait for diff grease.
Here is the Front and Rear shock towers upgrade. If you look at picture, you can see the difference in thickness. Stock ones are easier to bend, NEW ones are going to be worth it.
Front - ECX0832
Rear - ECX0834

Update!
Diff oil is in! I am going to try running differential oil in front/center/rear. Again, stock has minimal grease inside.

Where I stand so far;
Rear suspension and diff had been gone through and freshened up. Added my rear sway bar, with the Aarma 6s buggy shocks and upgraded screws to fine thread. Tearing apart front next! It will be done very soon.
Pic of the rear together.

Hope everyone is good

Front and Rear diffs are freshened up! I am running Team Associated 5k (rear) and 3k (front). I am running these weights to start off with. Everyone's driving styles differ, so weights would change slightly too. I used Marine grade grease in the front/rear diff housings (gearbox). I re-packed bearings with Marine grease too.
I have removed ALL the nitro and working on assembly of electric conversion. Here is a progress pic.

I installed upgraded ECX steering knuckles and CVD's.

I will be putting 7k (center) diff oil in and swapping out the spur gear to plastic. Once this is accomplished, I will be installing electronics. We are close.

How did it tu rtr n out what exactly do I need to make mine e buggy

Ok. Sorry for the late response. I wanted make sure a few things was working properly before I posted a response. The only thing different between the nitro setup and brushless is the components for power.

Things you need....
-I used the stock electric motor mount/center diff bracket. Do not pay attention to any online comments on this bracket. I am using an 4-pole 4268 2150kv buggy sensored brushless motor. Running 13tooth Mod 1 pinion gear with stock nitro spur gear.1563507039423258203298819430461.jpg

-Reuse the stock receiver box. It mounts on the back.

-Purchase an stock electric battery tray. (*note, reinforce front of tray with aluminum or plastic L-bracket before attaching to car. They are weak, refer to photo).

-Last item, stock electric servo bracket.

This thing moves!!!!! I do not even have full power turned up in the ESC. I currently run it on 4S 6000 mAh Lipo.

I will give an overall report on this build here hopefully after this weekend. I would of sooner, but had some tweaking to do on suspension setup. (my bad judgment broke front outdrive).

Here is an overall pic! Later
