Can you bind a dx5r to the esc/rcvr?

So just got a Temper 1/18th today & didn't realize the esc & the rcvr are all in one on her. BUT it is a spektrum product so I figured I could bind my Dx5r to it. But still haven' figured it out yet (tried diff. frame rates, still won't bind). Any ideas?
