Hey there good RC ppl. I'm considering purchasing a machine used for grinding tree stumps and want to convert it to run via RC controller. The hydraulic control levers are where the guy's hands are in the included picture. Other stump grinder owners have done the same DIY conversion, and I'd like your advice on how it should be done. The second picture is of a DIY RC installation where 4 servos control 3 operation levers. The near lever moves up/down as well as L/R, requiring two servos, then one servo for each of the other two levers. The last pic is of the preferred type of controller. Other than these pictures, I have no idea what brand or model these servos and controller are, or how they're programmed to work together.

If anyone has advice as to how I should approach this project, I'd sure appreciate hearing your ideas. Thanks.

My brother is a robotics engineer and that looks more like the 1/2 to 1/4 scale stuff that they do than the 1/8 to 1/18 “kit” hobbyist stuff we do. Battle bots forums might be a good resource that’s where he takes his job stuff to a hobby. They print their own circuit boards and do their own simple programming. He uses an expensive RC airplane radio to control the functions because it has more inputs.

Your first job should be rigging up a bulletproof remote kill and programming so when any servo or function loses signal it kills everything. A runaway situation with equipment like that is going to either be an ER visit or an insurance claim
