I've been building a smart ECX Circuit and wanted to see if anyone here would be into it.
**The brain:** an ESP32 that sits between the receiver, servo and ESC. You still drive with your normal transmitter.
**Lights:** 12 addressable LEDs with white headlights, colored blinkers that come on when you steer, brake lights when you let off or brake, reverse lights, and lots of other color modes and light shows.
**Gyro:** it helps keep the car from flipping over backwards, all on its own. I'm also using it for wheelie control.
**Built-in website:** the car makes its own Wi-Fi, so you can open its page on your phone with no app needed. From there you can:
• Change light modes and brightness
• Set steering center and travel, and reverse steering
• Set max throttle and battery type, and see battery voltage
• Turn the gyro features on and off
• Update the software over Wi-Fi
**Self-driving (optional):** in my garage I have a camera set up, and the car drives itself in laps. It learns each corner and gets faster over time. Its best lap so far is under 4 seconds. You don't need this part. The lights, gyro and website all work without a camera.
**What's next:** I just ordered 5 custom PCBs. The board is plug and play between your receiver, servo and motor controller, with no cutting or soldering on the car.
If anyone's interested in the project or a board, let me know!
