ECX AMP pinion very loose

I replaced the spur gear on my ECX AMP and I tried to drive it but the pinion has become very loose- it keeps falling off. Do I need a new one?

Is there a way to tighten the pinion?

There should be as grub screw on the side of the pinion. Perhaps it has come loose?

That's a spot that definitely requires locktite. When the ECX driver starts to strip you can file the end of the driver down or loosely fix it with a belt sander. The supplied driver rounds over easy and will then strip the screws.
