Was thinking about upgrading to metal links and turnbuckles, but would this be a good idea? I notic the stock plastic ones are pretty flexible. But I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not because I'm running a high torque MG servo, plastic servo horn. So far I have only had the turnbuckles pop out once, but could the "flex" of the turnbuckles absorb the impact thus helping prevent the ball ends from popping off? I like the idea of metal to eliminate the flex and have a more solid suspension, but I don't want to cause other problems either.

This also leads to the question as to what metal links do I get for turnbuckles and upper links?

I've had similar thoughts as I seem to be obsesing over super tight precision steering lately.. I rarely pop off a turn buckle... but when I do I'm relieved that it's a 2 second fix.. and my other thoughts are that if they were metal and say didn't pop off.. what else would have broken.. just my 2 cents

I wouldn't do it. I think the ball ends will indeed pop off merrily, and depending on where you run, the ensuing accidents will take their toll on your vehicle.

Slop and flex are inherent to the design of these things. Even if you make the steering all rigid down to the servo arm, there is flex in the A-arms and slop in the caster blocks, and even the chassis itself is quite bendy. That's why they are great bashers, but if you want race buggy standards of control, you will always be disappointed.

Yea these trucks are strictly bashers. They need to be as dureable as possible (especially for my 12 year old son). But if the "flex" in the links is helping prevent the ball ends from popping off then I will leave them on there.
