First things first get a IR thermometer and keep a eye on temps when changing anything (tires, 3s, different motors etc.) this is the one I use https://www.harborfreight.com/non-contact-pocket-thermometer-93983.html. Gear for the conditions you run in and the battteries you choose to use (2s, 3s). I have a guideline of keeping temps around 160F or less on the motor and try to keep no more than 140F on the esc. If the motors running hot gear down. If the esc is getting hot but the motor is not get a bigger esc (higher amp). Some escs will go into thermal shutdown when they get to hot but some will fry instead. Don't get a esc without a fan yes if the fan fails a esc can still burn up but I would rather have one then without one. As for gearing I usually go in increments of two so if you have a 19t pinion go with a 17t. If you go as low as you can on the pinion and the motor still gets hot go with a lower kv motor or larger can one like a 3660 motor. For the Ruckus for its size and large tires I would get a 3660 can motor. Again this depends if you run in grass use 3s lipos and so on.
Are you running on Grass?
Will this work on my ruckus monster truck
Is gearing it down going to make it slower
Or more torque on start and lower top speed
