However, I had to laugh at the "emulsion shock" term. A oil damper with an open air void is actually known as an "open bath" damper and is old technology. The air doesn't need to be distributed as "microscopic" bubbles throughout the oil to provide the necessary volume compensation. In fact, air in the oil DECREASES the effectiveness of the damping action. That's why a bladder is so much better: it keeps out the air and allows for consistent damping throughout the range of the piston stroke.
