Just got a Temper Gen 2, wanted yellow but only blue was available. Didn't matter I guess since I swapped wheels & removed stickers anyway lol20200516_071016.jpg

The first thing I did was swap stock drive shafts for Axial Wild Boar shafts. I used a Dremel to cut the end & middle pieces to get the correct length.

I used a Dremel to grind out a small spot on the gearbox to fit the wider shaft in the rear.

Now it has stronger, thicker drive shafts with metal ends.

My second upgrade is the wheels & tires. I went with Proline Rock Shooter wheels & Proline Grunt tires which are taller & narrower. 20200516_175916.jpg
Better clearance overall.

Then I proceeded to remove the livery stickers to give it a clean look.

Next I installed new electronics starting with a Castle Creations Mamba Micro X esc.

Then I swapped the stock brushed motor for a Team Brood Racing brushless "Noisy Cricket" motor.

Added a Futaba receiver to go with my transmitter that runs all my rc's.

I am using a Venom 1300mAh 2S lipo for this rig. Fits perfectly under the hood.

I cut a notch in the dash for the wires to come through & a small notch for the wires in the front of the battery tray.

Nice & snug!

I shaved a little off the roof beside the lightbar on both sides so the roof tilts towards the front when the 2 rear roof screws are removed. This will allow me easy access to the battery connections. I also put 2 shorter screws in the rear of the roof to make removal quicker.20200522_130719.jpg
Here you can see the roof tilted up for easy connector access.

Wow, great job on this build. Looks like it's setup really well. I was lookin at the same esc/motor combo, the 6 poles in a motor for these size rigs had my interest. How's the motor run in that wheelspeed and cogging wise? Considering doing the same setup in my rig if i don't have good luck with my brushed motors

Thank you! It seems to have a really good smooth slow crawl on low throttle, but I did switch the pinion to a 14t to help with that & to prevent the motor from overheating during steep climbs and keep myself from breaking stuff LOL

Did an easy mod to make the roof access better & easier. Drilled a hole & mounted a body post & drilled the roof in the rear to fit. Now its as simple as removing a body clip to tilt the roof to access the battery connectors. 20200602_162148.jpg20200602_162437.jpg

Great write up, great mods! Luv the tire/wheel combo, can you give me your sores for them, please. Nice wheeling vid too. I'm going to pick one up when they come back in stock. (y)

Thank you! It's a great mini rig, just sold 3 of them at the shop I work at. The wheels & tires are on the proline racing website. Rock shooter 1.9 wheels & 1.9 Grunt tires. The wheels are currently out of stock though.

Any updates or upgrades? Thanks for posting the wild board driveshafts. Nice to have readily available driveshafts. I have an extra set at home.

Temper G2 update: custom body. This is the discontinued Proline Baja bug for the traxxas 1:16 mini E-Revo. I got it from a junk bin & painted it up like most of my rcs. Check out my fb page Rusto Mad Customs or Instagram account Rusto_Mad_Customs to see this and other rusted builds. 20201223_230322.jpg20201223_230337.jpg20201223_230523.jpg

You may have burned out the esc/receiver. Are all the connections still tight? Do you still have forward & reverse, but no steering?

Someone in here mentioned the noisey cricket being a 6 pole motor, it is actually a 4 pole, 6 slot. Just wanted to clear that up.

Have you adjusted anything with the Castle Link software? I have been interested in that motor since Eddie came out with it, it might have a little too much wheel speed for me though.
