Temper gen2 with the mods.

Finally got around to putting electronics in my Dinky RC chassis. Ran it on the rocks the weekend. Was a great deal of fun.

Are you running stock links? I just got one of these dinky chassis's but will be using redcat racing portal axles. I am trying to figure out what length links to run. Thanks in advance.

I’m running upper links that Dinky provided with my stock lower links. My lower links from the kit we shorter than stock. Dinky sent me a new set but I haven’t swapped them onto my truck since it’s cold outside

I ended up just measuring what length links i needed for the wheelbase I wanted to run and ordered some from rc4wd. It turned out really good

Nope they fit good. I originally had them on a barrage and the way the axles come it is set up for a chassis mounted servo with a panhard bar. I put the 1Tenth RC servo-on-axle mount on it instead so you have the servo on the axle where it belongs and then you can run a true 4 link. I believe the redcat portals are designed for a 3 link setup on the gen 7. They are great axles for the money. I have an axial capra i just built a couple months ago and the redcat axles are damn near just as good as the new axial portals.

I have the portal kit on one of my Gen7 framed Redcat’s. They did design it as a 3 link but, no one I know is running it that way, as the geometry is all wrong. I run the same 1tenth servo mount. I might have to buy another kit to put on my Temper. What size shocks did you go with? Also, did you use the stock drive shafts or something else?

Yes I used my gen 1 temper driveshafts, I use the barrage driveshafts and axles under that truck now. The shocks are gmade r1 shocks, they are droop setup to get the ride height where I wanted it. They're a little long otherwise if not setup droop.

Nice rig, what is that like an 800mah pack? My buddy just put a losi carbon battery plate on his gen 2 and is looking for batteries. Battery on axle works great, Ive been running that way for a couple years. Here is my gen 1. I use smaller 500mah packs
Damn all I gotta say tbh I didn't really like the gen 1 once this 2 came out but I appreciate yours is all that compatible with gen 2? An if so can you send a list of parts

Yes everything is interchangeable. I am running temper gen 2 axles (from my old barrage gen 2, same axles), barrage driveshafts, and barrage links. I am also running the barrage transmission. My wheelbase is slightly longer than a gen 2 temper since I am using the barrage links. Also running the Dinky RC over-the-axle steering setup. I can get you updated pictures of the truck. It just sits on the shelves now as I have built a 2.2 sporty axial capra based truck.

That would be great an do you have any suggestions for the CV axles the pin keeps falling out an I even heat shrinked around the boot

I do recall having that issue at one point, I put a small dab of super glue on the cv over each end of the pin. At some point I would like to try some of these Punk's 3D C-hub adapters to run axial knuckles and shafts. Opens up a lock of options for weighted knuckles then too. I will get some updated pictures later of how the truck sits as of now.

Here’s a couple updated pictures. Gen 1 Temper chassis and skid with Barrage Gen 2 axles, driveshafts, and links. Yeah Racing 90mm shocks with a droop setup. Wheelbase is 10.5”, ground clearance to bottom of skid is 1.5”. Also running the Dinky RC Temper gen 2 over-the-axle steering setup with servo/battery tray. that's about it. Hobbywing 1080 esc for power. I use a small 550mah 2s on the front axle.

Looking for a up grade for my stock Gen II Temper transmission skid plate, broke the link mount on the front?
