Hi All,
Bought the AMP MT kit. Upgraded the steering servo and installed metal transmission a while ago to handle 2S lipo batteries. That was fun, and it worked great. But we wanted to go faster, so decided to upgrade to brushless motor. Today, I installed the Tazer Twin Combo (motor and ESC together), along with a ECX13009 radio receiver. This pairs with the kit's existing ECX10003 radio. The car is markedly faster, and it's also more stable due to the FastEddy bearing upgrade we also did.
Here's the issue: The motor/controller that came with the original car kit let you slam the car in reverse while the car was still moving forward. The Tazer Twin, however, says in its instructions that you must "apply the brake until the vehicle has come to a complete stop, release brake, then apply the brake again" to move in reverse. That isn't as entertaining as the original motor. But the REAL problem is that pushing the trigger forward on the radio doesn't always seem to register as a reverse command with the car, even when it's sitting still. Sometimes the car sits there (not moving) and you have to push the trigger forward several times before the car goes in reverse. We tried the system calibration procedure that comes with the Tazer Twin, thinking that maybe we should pick a spot in the trigger's position that isn't quite "all the way" forward. That didn't make much of a difference.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the car to go in reverse as soon as the trigger is pushed forward? Even if the car is standing still (or preferably when the car is even moving forward)?
BTW, we installed two sets of new batteries in the radio, thinking maybe it was a signal strength issue. No change. However, the radio's "low battery" red light stays on no matter what batteries are in it.
