Drag racer build

Finally getting around to fitting the body. Got the post on today. Rigged up the back without changing the shock tower. But its solid. Removed the amps body mount in rear to fit hardware to hold rear post. Also flipped the post around backwards to allow more bite on the roof of new body. But the rear post can face other way if needed for different bodies. The body I will be fitting will be that jc concepts fox body for a slash. Ruckus front and rear body post.

Well got first cuts done. Think it will turn out decent. But running into other issues. Will be able to fit those body post perfectly. The slash is narrower and longer. So had to cut more material to fit wheels. I want to fit these grp but think the drag tires will fit alot better since they more narrow. But I want to run both. So now with the grp tires on...the amp is wider than slash. That could also be my 17mm adapters. Mine are 5mm offset. If you take that 5mm away it still would be 1-2mm too wide still I think. So I can make fender flares to clean it up. Since I want it to look nice with the grps. This is without modifying the rig, eg shorter arms or other mods. I am going to make all adjustments from the body. This jconcepts body is excellent so far. I mean I really cant complain. Its not for this rig and fitting it is working out. I will clean all my cuts up before paint and stuff. But waiting for my new demel battery and polycarbonate paints to get here. So will be stuck for a little bit. What yall think I should use to make fender flares? Plastic weld?other ideas? Sorry that's long winded. But wanted everyone know what I done to get it to fit so far.

What did you use for the spur gear? Mod 1 I assume? I have a hot racing 81t spur and 32t pinion with a 4300kv motor on 3s and hit 70mph, so I'm pretty much topped out unless I throw more voltage at it (have a blx 185 esc so I could go 6s ??) but would rather go to a mod.8 or mod 1 spur and Pinon. Thank you

Mod1. Have used it with and without slipper clutch and works better for me without. Currently using 1:1 gearing with hot racing pinions. 5mm gears will fit right on the trans with no issues. Started with 34t traxxas xo-1 pinion and used it as a spur. Worked great. Was cheap 5$ ish and held up to abuse. But have since changed a lot of ratios to get what I like now. But that's a great beginner Mod1 gear to start. With a 34t mod 1 for spur, I think...not sure I remember...the largest mod one pinion you can use with stock holes in motor plate is 24t or 25t. But if your not scared to cut/dremel it, you can go up to 28t pin on 34t spur..mod 1. This also with the stock plastic motor plate.

Also remeber tire size changes are like gearing changes. Some tires run faster and better.

Also 6s would be over kill. 4s and 5s hard to not break anything. Lol. Also food for though...axial ax-10 trans fit with minor..very minor modding. So that should give you some options on playing also. Plus a dremel is your friend lol.

Take that 81t off and get a spur and pinion closer to 1:1 gearing and you could make that 4300kv do 70 mph on 2s and faster on 3s. Try it for fun. But keep in mind you'll sacrifice something to have something. I was able to break 90mph with a 7700kv castle, 2s, and 58t spur/38t pinion(think that was size) but it would eat spurs and had ok low end and ran hot. But for short time fun..it was awesome. That was years ago lol.

Hope you find a good medium. These are fun and can be setup to do alot of things it shouldn't ?.
 
Wow thanks for all the info ,yea i have a arrma BRCC converted from .8 to mod1 so I have some bigger pinions I could use, and yes I've already dermaled out the motor plate a little already, also have the hot racing locker spool in it with the ecx metal gear set and have the hot racing splined axels as well running grp s5

No problem. that's what we all here for. To learn, share, and have fun. What you setting your amp up for? On road? Rough road? Basher? My one strictly on road/speed runs, the one above my pro street, and my others just yard bashers lol. You like the s5 compound? I run S4 compound belted. Havent tried the 5. Just dont use 1 or 2. They dont work over 55mph.
 
It a circuit but same thing, Just speed running and maybe some bashing on wet roads ?, I've only ever tryed s5 and s7s and Arrma Hoons. I like the hoons but the grps have blown less on me, I live in Florida didn't like the s7 but the s5 are perfect

Sweet good to know. We in the middle of a move to fla. Spring hill area. Then will be getting into r c down there once this covid stuff slows down.

Yeah I have circuit parts and ruckus parts too. Yeah nice they all share...sorta

Yeah I run, my 3 sons, and my daughter does too. So we will get in on that wet action too. ? I have bashed many a parked car, trees, and other misc things. I may have to try those s5 then. I am game to run/try anything a few times. Seems like in last few years our tire prices keep going up lol.
 
Got this much done today. Now need finished. Should have been done sooner. Lol what yall think? Fine trimming and finishing up.

Damn looks good! I'm pissed im running GRP S5 and just got the hot racing cvd axels but they only lasted a few packs before 1 of them broke and of course the part I need to replace isn't in stock... so now I have a non running car with $55 axels but I guess to be fair my blx 185 esc won't go into programming mode so the punch is at 9 which is the max and I have the hot racing diff locker aswell

You know tou can fit traxxas alxes too?! that's my back up if mine ever broke. But havent had too

I acutally have the rear traxxas slash 4x4 axlea from hot racing because the ECX ones are never in stock, but the piece i broke isn't in stock either ??
