Ecx Temper Build

Do you have any issue with the center drive shaft caused by the steep angle?
I push the suspension down before i run it to lessen the angle and it has a good angle, but if i don't do that it'll have a steep angle because they're "drooping" I think it's also because the shocks i have have a little bit stiffer of a spring

You could install some internal spacers to limit the down-travel of the shock shaft. I use cheap 3mm shock o-rings under the piston-- they're about 1mm thick. Maybe 3-4 in each shock? Maybe more?

Thanks for the tip, i might have to try that. I'm going to try a cheap 4 link setup next probably

Nice work! That's one of the cool things about these ECX cars-- even though they're relatively inexpensive, they're great for modding. (Well, maybe that's BECAUSE they're cheap!)

What brand shocks are those and how much did they cost? (I scanned the earlier posts really quickly and didn't see if you mentioned that or not-- I apologize if I missed it.)

They're just china made ones, they costed $30 for a set of 4 on amazon. Here's a link https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073...40_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=aluminum+100mm+shocks

Did the motor require modding to work? Was it plug in play or did you have to grind the mounts or post?
I didn't have to make any modification to the motor plate. The connectors were snipped from the old motor for the 280, and it works pretty good. Twice as fast as stock, but it does get a little hot after a while.

Thank you. What about the pinion gear? I noticed the shaft on the stock one is smooth and the new motor looks like it has channels in it? Did you reuse the stock pinion gear on it?

TIA!

I just filed the splines down a little bit and reused the stock pinion gear

You could try to find or make some longer upper links to clock your axle to get the pumpkin pointing up towards the transmission. It's not really necessary but an option

I actually reverted back to 3 link and put the stock shocks back on for lower cog and less driveshaft angle

I got the motor installed. It’s twice as fast but run time is also half of what it was stock.

Mine is EXTREMELY loud.

I flipped the tranny and added the motor and mine sounds like a weed whacker motor!

I don’t see any binding and my gear mesh space is th same it was stock.

It climbs better. Moves much faster. It peels my tires out and didn’t melt anything yet,

But man is mine LOUD!!!

The motor. It fit perfectly and I soldered the stock motor wires to it. I sanded the shaft while running for a minute and the metal pinion gear went on just fine. It’s all metal with an Allen head lock.

Something must be wrong for it to be this loud! Could it be the reversed tranny? Or is something wrong with my mesh?

Mine was never that loud. Did you break in the motor? I think some are loud until you break them in

I didn’t know I had too? I did run it directly to a traxxas battery bar to sand the spline down. But that was it.

It’s SOO LOUD! Haha. It sounds like motor oR tranny.

Soo loud! Hahaha.

I ran mine under half throttle for 15-20 minutes and mine wasn't that loud, it definitely is the motor though
