how can I tell if my speed control is bad or motor?

What model are we talking? If it's brushed, hook up the battery directly to the motor wires, see if the motor turns.

Also, smell the ESC, usually they have a whiff of molten electronics when they have fizzed out.

Running the leopard 9t brushless system, with esc it came with. It ran beautiful 2 times now motor won't turn
