Grease spur and pinion gears?

If you put grease on gears it is preferable if they are in a sealed container. I'm pretty sure most if not all ECXs don't have well sealed cases. This can cause dirt or other things to get stuck in the grease, eventually causing issues.

That being said, a light coating of white lithium grease is a good way to go.

RPM makes a sealed gear cover. I never thought of putting grease on the pinion/Spur gear.

Despite being called a "sealed gear cover" the RPM product for 2WD ECX cars does not actually provide a substantially better "seal" than the OEM ECX part. To earn the descriptor "sealed" I would expect some sort of rubber gasket.
