It's for binding the transmitter to the receiver. When new the transmitter and receiver were probably bound at the factory if part of a kit. If you need to replace the receiver at some time it will enable you to bind the transmitter to a new receiver (it plugs into the receiver to program it to the same frequency as the transmitter). Keep it safe and forget about it.
