Can keep mine going. Out of 3 only one survived a mild couple of batteries playing on asphalt.
One broke the turnbuckle rear. Other rolled and broke the front steering caster, think that's what it's called.
So. Parts. Turnbuckles. Rpm. Traxxas or so aluminum?
Caster? Same question. All three are brushless. Play a lot of pavement. And very fast.
Also mine. At full speed it dog walks a lot. Just upgraded to a castle 3800kv with a 24t pinion. And it's crazy fast. So. Turnbuckles help there too? Or is it bc of steering slack? I have factory style foam filled tires. And those things look 7" round when wot. I did raise rear shock all the way. Installed both spacers in them. And took ones out of front. That helped enjoy to run wot. But still has a lot of walking.
Any thoughts and help would be awesome. Upgrades? Etc. as of right now we havnt went a weekend with them since bought them. Always some kind of breakage.

4wd or 2wd?

Hot racing makes a ton of stuff for the 2wd. No one really makes anything for the 4wd version, will have to Frankenstein it.

2wd: rpm servo saver, traxxas turnbuckles or hot racing aluminum turnbuckles, pretty much throw everything that hot racing has at it. 25t steering horn by hot racing will help a ton too. I can be more specific if you want with a parts list if I knew if it were 2wd or 4wd

You need to tighten up the front end and watch for torque twist. Stiffer shocks will help with that.

2wd. Also just noticed. The drivers rear a-arm. It's fine. But where it attaches to. A pin goes thru. Then toward front of transmission is a block. Well that part where pin goes in is broke. Lol. They have that in aluminum too?

Hopefully you didn't break the frame where the pin goes in.

might be other things I am missing, but this will get you started at the least.

I'm going to go broke with three ruckus's lol. Thank you so much. Going to check see if they have any of this local and get started You guys are awesome. Maybe I can get it all and bomb prof them and actually play one day without breaking at least two.

Last question lol. #13. It's on rear end. That number says for front. Do they got front and rear?

sorry, I thought that was the rear....just the front. gotta go with the ecx one.

Buy what you need when you need it. Some things you should have on hand for woopsies but others should be replaced when you break things.

Screws, nuts, bearings, shock oil, and bearing oil should be on hand. Axles should also be on hand. Other than that, replacing steering components immediately then replace as things break would be what I would suggest. Ecx are low budget cars, don't worry too much about them and have fun. What you put in it may cost above and beyond a hpi, losi, or traxxas car that is more bullet proof. We all want the best but at what point does the cost no longer make sense. It isn't like we can get a ton of money for these cars if we resell...there really is no return on investment.

there really is no return on investment.

Fun and experience is about as good of a return on investment as anything! I don't plan on selling my RCs anyway. :D

lol. true.

I have put a good amount of money into keeping mine going, and yes at a small scale you can invest a lot of money into these cars. When parts start costing 500+ for each, let me know about how you feel about going broke. A months worth of tires on my sons car cost about $500, fuel is about $6 per gallon and burn about 5 gallons a weekend....that is if we don't bend or break shocks, axles, radius rods (turn buckles in the rc world), or blow a motor.

You won't see me complaining about cost, or even mention it, of these little cars....I'd buy 10 and support them all if they brought as much enjoyment for my son as his stage 1 mod does now. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Got a new axle, new body, rebuild motor, tires, rims....blew through about 8k. I thank god for sponsors.

Thank you taking time to do all that. I'm going to upgrade them all. Should help with down time. You said two sets of the turnbuckles for front. I presume one set you use as a steering linkage? And if so do you just bolt it?
Thanks
Crab.

yes steering linkage, you will need a nut and bolt to replace the push cap or you could get the aluminum hubs and servo saver for the front.

Thanks SC302
Hope I didn't sound like a prick crying about trucks lol. I work some crazy hours and only time I get to play with the little guy and little lady is weekend. And it's was just aggravating that they havnt been able to run a few battery packs at a time before breakages.
I love upgrading. Don't mind if we break stuff by accidents. But hate when it happens for no reason lol. She did break a chassis a few weeks ago. Which was her bad lol. Concrete don't move.
I wished one of you guys was local in NE Alabama. I'd incorporate done more help and knowledge. But I'm learning as I go. And you guys a of kno

And you guys are amazing with the knowledge here. "Typos" lol. Fat fingers. Little phone.
You ever get time. Post some pics of your ruckus. I'll prob go with the traxxas links for now. As they have em locally. And maybe order the aluminum for mine as it could stand to gain a little weight.

believe me, I fully understand. It is cold out so I am pretty lazy when they ask to go outside and bash around. These cars are very easy in comparison to full sized cars...but then again I am not setting them up for competition, just around the house bashing (don't have to get the car exact to get the most out of it, just have to get them good enough to go).

FWIW, I just got into this in September...there really isn't a whole lot to this with electric.

that's the unfortunate side up upgrading to a faster motor and pinion .. but i have always used rpm parts or traxaas but try go the ebay or dollar hobby route save u a couple bucks here and there . I have a 2wd ruckus and just but some steel rear axels from traxxas always check on here for outstanding help or check out youtibe for some guidance.
