Runtime question with a Venom 5000mah 2S for my Amp.

Was wondering what the average runtime would be with this battery in an Amp Mt with all stock gear? The dude at the hobby shop I go to said not to let the voltage drop below 3 on these batteries or else it'll be toast.

I use a Gens Ace 5,000 mAh 2S with my bone stock Amp and get half an hour ish. Depending on terrain, conditions and throttle usage.

The battery manufacturer normally recommends the minimum voltage per cell. Use a cheap voltage alarm and you can set the voltage per cell you want it to alarm at. The cheap voltage alarms will beep with a dip in voltage when there is high draw so although the manufacturer recommends 3.7v I alarm at 3.4 or 3.5 and usually end up around 3.7 ish. I am thinking about how to mount the alarm somewhere I can see it more easily since it constantly shows total and each cell voltage. Based on the orientation it limits options but I have lots of double sided tape.

Picked this up along with the Venom. It was around $7. I already plugged it in. Reads 3.84 for each cell which to me means a storage voltage thereabouts.

Yep that’s it. 3,85 is storage voltage so it has bled down a tiny bit. There is a button on the end, push it until you get to the voltage you want to alarm at. Mine is zip tied tightly to the battery hold down. When you put the battery in connect the alarm. I haven’t had one come undone yet.

Balance charge at 4.8 amps, pop that thing in and go to it. I used furniture foot protector pads inside the battery box so the LiPo doesn’t move at all. I had to back the acres on the other end of the battery t-but things out some to have enough flex to do it up. You can also set that aside and use a Velcro strap, there are holes on both sides for it.

Nice..well my Amp came with a foam block that cushions the battery. The lipo is a tad bit short but I feel as though it should sit nicely in the space. Good call with the zip tie. I was thinking some craft glue but a couple tiny zip strips should do the job. I think I'll set the voltage for 3.4 and charge balanced at 4.8 as suggested. Should give some nice speed. I'm by the lake so temps drop nicely in the evening.

Yeah the Gens Ace I run in it is narrower and I found it was chafing the battery from sliding around. Plus where the wires come out wasn’t centered on the notch so I used the pads to have it slightly canted to one side so they line up and everything is tight. Whip a few turns of electrical tape around it if you notice any chafing. Or duct tape. /RedGreen

I used a similar method but placed it further towards the end so there would be extra slack on the short cable.

My boys run Venom 5000mah 20c lipos on their amps and get about 40 minutes of run time. The battery cut off is 3.5V.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but what is the runtime on the Stock NiMH 1800mah? I see your boys drive it. I ordered this for my 5 year Old, and I think I will turn the speed down 50%, I think that’s possible on the controller? What would run time be then? Any idea?
Just wondering if I should get a LiPo right away, or he will be able to get 15-20 min out of the stock battery?

Stock battery will definitely get you 15 minutes on 50%.
