Testing/Troubleshooting Factory Motor and Replacement Options

Hey guys I just upgraded my Temper with a 2s Lipo and bigger tires, and I think I cooked my factory motor. It gets scalding hot and stalls at the slightest obstacle. It smells like an electrical fire and won't barely run below 4.0v. I can't even get it to fully discharge my new Lipo! I've got it out and sitting on the bench is there a way to test it?

I want to make sure the motor is the culprit and that I'm not doing anything else wrong.

You can power up the motor right from the battery or a DC power supply. An adjustable power supply would be the best, 0 to 7V would simulate throttling up from min to max.

It's possible that there is driveline drag somewhere as well. Taking out the motor to test it will help diagnose if that is the case as well. If it runs well out of the chassis then start from the spur and work your way to the wheels checking for over tightness. Maybe your pinion to spur mesh was too tight?
