If so.. what hex adapters are you using? It rubs me the wrong way that they call this AMP thing a MT.. I'm going to cure it, in a BIG way. I can just buy traxxas parts and mod them, but looking for something direct bolt on if possible

If you can tell me the size of the hex pin and the OD of the axle where the hex pin goes through I can check my Savage and tell you if it's parts will work.

looks like 2mm pin, through a 4mm axle.... tiny stuff.

Sadly I left my caliper at work..... So I can only measure with my Imperial tape measure. It looks like the hex pins will fit, but your axles are really small. The savage hexes have about a 6mm hole that widens to about 9mm where the hex pin fits.

i might have to get them custom made..i got a nerdy buddy with a milling machine.. and an desire to do weird stuff like this.

I have 2.8 duratrax lockup on my amp mt. I stupidly bought 2 sets of rear tires though not sure if it makes a difference but definitely work better then the stock wheels.

Amp Mt tyres are the same all the way around, so it doesn't matter. Wasn't stupid at all :)

Just bought the Hot Racing 12-17mm adaptors. Have a set of street tyres here waiting for them to arrive

How did the hot racing 17mm adapters work? I was thinking about getting those same adapters for my 2wd ruckus. I have some smaller diameter truggy wheels that I would like to use

There are two different types. I bought the ones that you have to remove the hex it turns out. I meant to buy the ones that slip over the existing hex. Oh well, and they haven't arrived yet. I did buy a set of cheap no name ones that slip over the hex to tide me over until the Hot racing ones turn up, and they worked well. Just remember to loctite the wheel nuts. I lost a rear left nut and washer, I forgot. Had spares so no real issue, the tyres i bought went well

the Hot Racing ones turned up and they work well, did have to shim them a little to take up some of the slop, they are made for traxxas axles, but work just fine on the ecx ones. Just remember, if you buy either Hot racing one, to use Loctite on the barrel nuts, they aren't Nyloc like the ecx wheel nuts.
He is a pic with the 1/8th wheels and adaptors installed

How does your truck drive with the 1/8 buggy wheels and tires compared to Short Course tires?

they are the same diameter so the only difference is that they are slick instead of nobby and 1/8 wheels seem to be cheaper, I guess there are more of them about.
So better on asphalt and slipperier on grass but no so bad that you cant drive. i dont run on dirt, none around here to run on.

only problem i see there is the front tyres hitting the body when cornering.
The front Hexes on the stock Ruckus are 9mm, we tried some 7mm hexes and the front tyres rubbed bad when cornering.
The stock tyres rub when the Ruckus is stock anyway so its up to you

This is my Ruckus. I haven't had any issues with the body rubbing . I'll be replacing the body with a jconcepts BAJR body which has a similar shape to this . Do you find that the 10 mm offset puts more stress on the stub axle ? 0823170945.jpg

With that body you won't have any issues with the tyres rubbing. lol
I am running those on a torment so the wheels and tyres are nowhere near as big.
That looks like a torment, with big wheels right? I cant see any issues and dont foresee any

Yes, it is a torment. I found this truck to be a lot more fun with the bigger 2.8 Masher's on it. I have an affinity for monster trucks

I think I'll go with the 6mm offset. The truggy Wheels I'll be using have a 1/2" offset. Once these Mashers wear out, I'll probably go with either the 2.8 Trenchers or the Super Swamper pre-mounts with the 17mm hex. That way it will be easier to use one set of tires or the other depending on what my mood is that day.
