Bearings for 1/24 Temper?

Not turning up anything on the Internet for a bearing upgrade for the 1/24 Temper. Has anyone here replaced the stock bronze bushings with bearings? If so, did you make note of the sizes?

Otherwise I suppose I'll just have to warm up the calipers and do it myself! :)

It looks like the bushing you are referring to is ECX207002, which is everywhere in the 1/24 Temper. Sadly, literally no website lists the dimensions. Furthermore, both Fasteddy and Boca do not list kits for the Temper. I think you may be stuck with taking out the caliper. :(

I say we need to email them both and get them to release kits for this bad boy! :D

I'd agree. Now, we can either mail them with the bushing info, or we can wait on @i_r_beej to get us the dimensions and ask them to label a kit with the appropriate bearing. I'd lean towards the latter, as atleast then fasteddy and Boca won't need to buy the bushing to set this up.

Sometimes you are better off keeping the bushing, the small bearings do not last. Prime example is the Axial XR10; 5x8x2.5mm bearing in the transmission that failed all the time, no mater the brand. The solution was to install bushings or upgrade the motor plates and transmission housing that would accommodate larger bearings. This is a crawler, that little bit of friction is not going to hurt anything.

I disassembled the rear axle housing last night and counted out 10 bushings. Two bearings in each axle carrier, four in the transmission housing on either side of the worm spool gear and two more supporting the worm pinion.

I started taking measurements and jotting notes. I plan to finish tonight.

Avid RC's are US$1.00 each and Fast Eddy is US$0.99 each. That's US$10.00 for bearings on each end. Probably another two in the center transmission. So maybe US$22.00 total for bearings. Yikes! As @rob5059 indicated this car is so small and light (and slow) that bearings really might not make much difference. The rear worm pinion and spool gears were completely unlubricated so I applied some pure fluoro grease. If I apply to the bushings as well the Tiny Temper will probably receive 99% of the benefit of ballbearings.

And I would probably be better off applying that money to a 1/18 Temper. (Yes, I have a crawler bug already.)

That said, this IS a hobby and if a bushing can be replaced with a cartridge bearing then it's virtually a moral obligation to do so. ;)
