Did some runs on the street in front of my house today

For those on the metric system

Need to find a quieter street
Getting there, not quite full throttle yet.
Its the biggest gears i have so will have to wait for some deliveries now :)

Current set up
  • 5200 mah 3s lipo
  • 3500kv motor
  • stock spur and metal tranny
  • 25t pinion
  • Stock tyres and traxxas drive shafts
I think there is a little bit left in it, as i was at about 80-90% throttle maybe a little more, but too many cars up and down my street need to find a quieter street to give it all. Have to pull the throttle on very slowly as it just wanted to back flip on me.

Have 1/8th slick tyres here just waiting on 17mm hexes to arrive to give them a whirl.
All in all progressing nicely. May need some bigger pinions to really increase the speed though.

Had few deliveries today :)

May have to look into a new body hmmmm
Hot racing 17mm hubs, Finally get to mount the road tyres.
Hot racing 85t metal spur, now i can get pinions bigger than 26t in there. Surprised how much more room 85t makes. Cant fit a pinion smaller than 21t with proper mesh. May have to take to it with the Dremel if the motor gets too hot on our backyard track though
traxxas Turnbuckles, some decent adjustability now
Pretty happy with it at the moment.
Just waiting for the Rpm SSE and she should be right for a bit

You may notice the back body mounts. I had to mod it, had a little back flip accident on the road and ground the body clip nubs clean off on the asphalt lol. Heli thumbscrews to the rescue and a couple of threaded spacers

Sparky, this is my Torment and if you notice I have .99 cent plastic drawer handles on the body to keep from scuffing and tearing it up. It works great and when the car flips 90 percent of the time it will flip back on it's wheels. I also do a lot of street racing. I have had mine clocked at 65 and I'm running a Castle Mamba 4600KV motor with a Gens Ace 7000mAh 60C Lipo battery. I will tell you I have a lot of cooling in all my car/trucks as you can see on my Torment. Cooling is very important to keep things cool, especially when you upgrade, in fact, cooling should be part of any upgrade. Hope this helps.

yeah i have seen your cooling system.
Mine doesn't run hot at all when i do speed runs, not pushing it hard enough I guess.
I always set it up with a smaller pinion when bashing or back yard racing with the boys.
Have given the 21t/85t combo a good thrashing now and still not above 110 f so all good for now.
I fluked just the right set up.
Will be pushing harder soon enough then cooling might come into it

Just a little update. Haven't been doing many speed runs but these were from my last run

You should squat the suspension down as low as you can go. Just use some nitro fuel line, cut to desired lengths, slide on shock shaft inside. Walla, custom ride height suspension. And then you can convert back to stock when you want to go bash.
I actually used stock shocks with a slight LCG on my basher I had. It worked decent, and saved money.
