Torment with arrma blx motor

So I'm trying to figure out how to install a traxxas type slipper on my torment for the purpose of running traxxas style spur gears. But can't seem to figure out how to make the spur gear stick out more to line up with the pinion gear. Will this work by using a Traxxas slipper clutch or is there some kind of mod I can do to the ECX slipper clutch? Seems that the mounting screws for the motor or impeding my ability to line the two up perfectly with a bigger pinion.

you could shim it out.
Get some 5mm shims and put enough in there to get it to line up. You may not be able to run the cover but that's about it

Shims made of metal? Like the size of the slipper plate ? Or just something like a bushing?

Shims the size of the inner race of the bearing. Bushing would work if it rests on the inner race
