Nice Affordable Brushless Combo (Amp)

Nice find, that looks pretty much like an exact copy of the Hobbywing WP10BL60, maybe it's an unbranded version of an older, discontinued hobbywing model? The real thing from Hobbywing itself will set you back more than $50 without the motor.

This is a Hobbywing ESC that is used in HSP RCs. It's just not branded. It seems really nice and I can program it with the program card that came with my Max 8. It has 6 programmable items. For $44 shipped, I'll likely get another.

Oh nice. Maybe I should get one. I have a cheap goolrc but I can't find a programming card for it that is guaranteed to work.

Is the motor that comes with it any good?

The 3300kv brushless motor that comes with it seems fine. It works as it should. Even though I shouldn't, I am going to try these combos in our rerelease Tamiya kits. It seems to be a great deal so far, but I've only had it for a couple of weeks.

Depending on what Tamiya re-re's you have will determine whether there are issues to take care of or not. Some gearboxes can handle it, some start to shred gears. 3300kv isn't super powerful, there are a lot of guys running hotter motors in Tamiya re-re's.

I bought a similar combo for my Amp since 3300kV is what the Ruckus 2WD BL comes from and it is absurdly powerful/fast.
It's a 4 pole motor and even with a 24t pinion on it it'll flip the Amp on its roof if there's any kind of grip. It'll wheelie on demand at pretty much any speed.
I had to tone down most settings and use an AVC-enabled receiver to make it driveable without limiting the max speed. Saying 3300kV isn'tpowerful is crazy.

Both the Grasshopper & Midnight Pumpkin are based on the same gearbox, and it can handle the power no problem. If you think your Ruckus is a handfull to drive on 3300kv, try it in either Re-issue! These are 80's designs, and handling has gotten way better over the last few decades;)

I put a 17.5t brushless motor in my Grasshopper a couple days ago and it scoots. Unless you are trying to run in a straight line doing speed runs, huge power isn't needed for these cars. They will flip at high speed, newer models have a lower/wider stance and can handle the power better. JMO.

I think Redcat uses these escs as well. I've found them on eBay with Redcat branding.
