Hello, My son has a 2wd torment. I was wanting to do an upgrade on motor. I've already had to replace esc. I have the dynamite 60amp on there now. Motor is starting to get hot and smell. It has the 15 turn dynamite from factory. Looking for suggestions. Thanks

I would highly recommend upgrading to brushless motor. Your not pushing crazy amps from ESC, but you are pushing enough obviously to get motor hot.
Are you running LIPO? Or still the NIMH?

Go with a 540 3000 kv ish range sensorless brushless motor.
Don't worry about the brand, keep it low budget....bashing trucks are made to be beat and what not. What I am saying is, yeah, pay more get more. At the same time, you can buy a cheaper motor, and replace them three times and spend less, related to paying for high end with it's life span the same diff as 3 cheapies.

eBay is a good source for cheap. Keep it USA shipper, less frustration.

Keep your KVs lower, which is a larger Turn....
For instance 13.5 T is like a 3500kv.....this is aprx, every brand is slightly different. Just read through the specs. Why, unless you plan on upgrading suspension, drives, diffs, and what not.
Make sure to use blue lock tight on rear wheel nuts, small amount, very. Use just enough to hold in place, but yet able to take off again.

Hope this helps, scroll over to the electronics section, get some more insight.

I upgraded to a Traxxas Titan 12T 550. Drilled a hole in the cover, due to the motor shaft being a bit longer. Takes some effort and ability to do. Huge difference in performance. Dremel helps. Make sure to seal the hole best you can.

I have used these motors in the past. I cut the shaft shorter, this way the cover will still protect the gears.
