Recently got a 1/18 torment and was considering modifying it, and well go big or go home...
How can I fully modify this thing, like best parts best motor, best everything?
Can you guys help me out?

I literally want to replace every part I can, upgrade the motor, make it as fast, as durable, and as robust as possible.

First you picked a horrible platform to want to modify.

I had the 1/18 Ruckus and pretty much gave the turd away instead of trying to fix it. I had the thing for all of 3 days and the rear diff started clicking because the butter soft gears stripped out, oh and you can't just buy a diff or the gears for it you have to buy an entire bulkhead at $24 a pop when that happens or you have to spend $23 plus shipping from the UK for diffs out of a Carisma GT14B and the Hot Racing steel cvds for the 1/18 Ruckus/Torment/Roost. The stock shock caps blow out when just driving it around normally. There is so much slop in everything it is impossible to drive straight down the road. Finding replacement tires can be a chore.

You could throw all the upgrades available at the 1/18 Torment and still not be anywhere close to the box stock durability of a Tacon Thriller Brushless. Save yourself some money leave the Torment alone and buy a Tacon Thriller Brushless and live happily ever after.

But since you asked.

Here are some threads discussing these vehicles and their issues.

Per usual I will consider your advice, not do I and continue on my path of stupidity, realizing at the end you were right but still thank you for your advise and guidance. I will keep updated on how this “adventure” goes!

Any update on this torment ? I got my hands on “diff” metal gears.. I was able to swap them out almost perfectly. Little bit of grinding down and I do mean A LITTLE GRINDING not much, on the outdrive gears and main drive gear and I’m rolling.i did not use the outdrives that came with the kit I got. I used the same ones ecx came with. Might do the front next just for fun and upgrade the motor. Wish I would’ve taken a picture of it all as I was doing it. To be honest I didn’t think it would work but I was wrong.

Hi, I also just got the Ruckus this Christmas to have and play with my son. (As I would just be a bystander if I didn’t). I’m swooping parts out mostly because I have too as the I’m finding out the hard way what goes wrong with these 1:18’s on first use.
The wheels were the biggest thing that disappointed me, the speadthreads are great on slick garage type surfaces. But out in the muck they just don’t grip. I know you have the torment so slightly different.
•I bought the Hailboxing replacement wheels they have the 12mml hex and just a little bigger and I sprayed the hubs. They are brilliant as a replacement.
•I have the new bearings on the way so can’t wait to change them out.
•Hot racing shocks are far better than the stock ones and I’m using 27.5 weight shock oil.
•1600mah Vermon battery is seeing a little better run time but I think a lipo 2s is needed next.
•My shell smashed on the first day after my son drove it into a park bench so that been getting a back duck taped and hot glue new look.. untill my new shell arrives.
that's about all so far, I’ll keep an eye on your progress to see how things go with upgrades.

What gears did you end up with if you don't mind me asking?

I got Carisma GT14B metal gears. Do not mind one bit. I’d love to see more of these ripping around RC parks. I do run 2s on my torment btw haven’t had any issues since the metal gears have been put in.

Hey Guys. I have an ECX 1/18 Ruckus I've modified and only issue in having is the plastic slipper plates are gone. I upgraded to a Traxxas VXL3M ESC and motor and running 2400mah 2S currently. Also put Pro-line trenchers for the mini e-revo on it and have the aluminum c hubs and steering knuckles, sealed bearing kit, and hot racing 58T spur and 19T pinion. Waiting for the axles and shocks to be back in stock. Thing is an absolute blast with this set up. Any suggestions for upgraded slipper plates? Thanks

Mini 8ight and Lc Racing slipper plates are a direct fit irrc. I think that the entire slipper assembly out of the Mini 8ight fits.
