Torment 4x4 3S brushless

Hallo,
I would like to have all the information about the possibility to use the Torment 4x4 with 3S Lipo batteries and putting on a brushless system (3600kv motor) Samurai combo maybe.
I have to change transmission using metal gears? Where buy the up?
Thanks

There are some posts on the forums about using brushless upgrades and 3S power. I know I would use a 550/3656 sized motor for a 4wd SCT that is slightly heavier than it's 2wd counterpart. I've seen people put in Castle 3800kv motors, 3500kv motors put in Torment 4x4s so you should be good with that 3600kv. Just make sure ESC is capable of 3S power with whatever motor you do choose. A lot motors will pull more than 60 amps.

Ok guys. I tried to use with 3S Lipo on stock motor and esc. I burnt the motor after 3 minutes!
Now I mounted a Hobbywing combo: 3250 brushless motor with a 60A esc. I’ll use only in 2S. It’ll be fine for me.

Ahem. You do know the stock ESC is only rated for 2S. Right?
Glad you found the limits of the stock "done with it, chuck it" brushed motor and not new brushless motor. I've only ever put about 9.6v, for 4 minutes, through a 540 brushed motor.

I'm glad to hear you went with a Hobbywing combo. 3250 is a typo? 3652 sized motor?
Hobbywing combos are great powerhouses IMO.

The stock esc support Lipo 3s but with a lower kv motors. You can use it on a scaler.
Now I mounted the combo in the picture

Looks like a good choice with stock sized tires should run well on 3s should you chose to. Get a Heatsink with a fan to give the motor some cooling probably won't need it but certainly would not hurt.

My Ecx 4x4 Torment is now upgraded to
Hobbywing Ezrun 4268SL 2600kv (3000W) 4 pole brushless 5mm motor + 14T/45T 1 metric 5mm
Castle Sidewinder 4 esc + R1 Wurks 30x30x15 heatsink fan
3S lipo Reaction 30C 5000
3S lipo Lectron pro 50c 5200
Shock oil 60 allround...

Even 2S lipo is fun....

....Previous upgrade with 4000kv 4 pole overheated eventually on 3S....

Perfect 4x4 short course truck beastie for driving the Mod 1 gears offroad and drag racing punch... will be fitting a 18T pinion

HW warm after several minutes hammering full speed blasts on road on fresh 3S lipo......

You can shove a big motor into anything (as long as it fits) and run cooler on 3s in 1/10 scale. 4000kv 3650 size motor ran in 1/10 scale 4x4 on 3s would need to be geared with a small pinion. I like big power also but big power can also wreck drive trains.

I can say put a 3670 motor in it or put the biggest thing you can fit in it and go nuts. Heat will be a issue with smaller motors especially higher kv ones. If you want to go straight to big power that's fine. But I understand you can go too small and too high kv then waste money on something that might not work the way you hoped.

What a lot of people on here and really any brand want is something more reliable than the brushed stuff that some models come with. IMHO just about any brushless motor would be better than running any brushed motor except maybe in a crawler.

3660 motors are the right sized motors for 1/10 scale 4x4 and should satisfy most for power and speed. But as said earlier a 3650 brushless has still been better than running any 550 brushed motor I have tried.

VikingRc,

Do you have a bit of spec on the mesh cover you have made please?

I have been looking to sort one for my truck.
Sure.
Screen door roll. Large insect pet mesh. Measure more than you need to cover chassis with room to ziptie it. Cut down with scissors... take your time... custom fit it. Still working out best velcro adhesive

UPDATE.
25% ECX 4x4 now.....

Beast mode armored 4S Black Project Torment 4x4 running smoothly 4S 50C lipo 2600kv 3000W 4268SL hobbywing with BLX185 outcast esc and HR steel spur + RR 5mm 14T pinion on 17mm 2.8 wheels
TBone bumpers and Proline Brute MT body protection....So scary fast and sounds amazing....fun.
